I have a CGP Warlock and love it. Pretty close H2 imo and probably one of the best quality masks out there.
Nice thick pull. High quality for sure.
His history has been etched in stone and I can’t blame people for not forgiving him.
I brought mine and read up on it afterwards.
Bader on my personal experience, it was a great transaction.
As for a H1…II’d go Creep or the Nag Castle special edition.
I don’t mean to rag on your mask (or others’) but I just don’t see the appeal of the Warlock. It’s just a bloated recast of Justin’s NM78, done without his permission. As for the pull being thick, I don’t think that’s what most people see as being a quality mask in the Myers scene. The Hero was clearly thin and if you want an accurate mask, it’s gotta be on the thin side. Personally, I can’t stand thick masks - as far as Myers/Kirk masks go at least. And his finishing has never impressed me either. Of course, this is all just my opinion.
You and many others may have had a great transaction, but he destroyed Jay Allan’s original '75 Kirk by attempting to recast it without his permission (he was only supposed to foam fill it), and failed miserably at it. He’s stolen, lied, deceived, scammed and destroyed a piece of DPS/Halloween history. I’m not trying to attack you, I just want to get people to understand why CGP doesn’t deserve anyone’s business. Once a scammer, always a scammer.
Here’s a gif showing before and after Terry’s recast failure, for those who have not seen it. Need I say more?
I went back and read all the info on CGP but it was AFTER I made my purchases from him. I don’t know him, any of you or any of the conflict that arose during that time. I do believe that people can and do change, I mean I was a pretty bad kid back in the day yet I changed my ways and have been clean as a whistle for almost 2.5 decades. But I’m not trying to diminish what happened it was a horrible thing that NEVER should have happened. As for his work I have to be perfectly honest; I really like it. I watched every review from years ago up to present and I can say he’s improved leaps and bounds compared to what he was producing then. I’ve compared it to the Creep and NAG 75 and they all have strengths and weaknesses in their interpretations but in my opinion they’re ALL great pieces of work. I simply prefer the look overall of CGP’s stuff.
Again, I’m no connoisseur, I’m a father of 3 that just wants to add decent pieces to my film prop collection without getting into the kinds of details that most of the experts look for. For example; I happen to build computers as a side hobby, I consider myself extremely knowledgable and proficient at said hobby, however I’m not super picky, meaning I’m okay with my 35" ultrawide @ 144hz even though it’s “only” 2560x1080. Yet ask the “connoisseurs” of monitors and they’ll tell you “no man it’s 1440p or nothing.” Same example can be applied to television or movies, I’m perfectly content at 1080p but the “connoisseurs” swear it’s 4k or nothing. My point is that opinions are like arse-holes, everyone has one, and as such I prefer to do what most will end up doing, letting the product speak for itself.
Remember, I have ZERO connections to anyone here, I’m a noobie on this forum and have no time or heart invested (yet, as you all seem cool). So don’t impune me or others for not jumping on the hate train when we have no idea what’s what. I’ve learned that there’s two sides to every story and somewhere in the middle is the truth. I mean really guys, if we were to stop buying from everyone or anyone that has a terrible history we wouldn’t have anything in our homes, because none of you can tell me that Hot Toy, Neca, Sony fracking Ikea doesn’t have skeletons in their proverbial closets.
I really don’t comment on these " what is the best H1 mask to get", but sometimes helping a member decide what mask to get is not such a bad idea. First , do not buy a CGP Warlock. I 100 % agree with Mark ( Spook/ Madbug). That mask is just straight poop.
If you want a nice H1, contact Justin at Nightowl and get yourself a nice Creep. Or if you’re lucky, maybe you’ll find yourself a NAG 75K, 98 Proto, MMK, Nightmare done up by James Carter. But good luck finding one under $600. Or you could contact Nik and him send James Carter a blank to do up. That would probably be $500, but the wait time might be 3 years now. Worth it IMO. There’s also Freddy Loper . He does really nice conversions as well. Wait time from him is one year, I beleive. I could be wrong. Good luck.
There are so many makers of Myers mask out there. It is definitely a competitive field in choosing the right masks for an individual. I am a big fan of the Creep though I don’t own one but hope to eventually. It’s a pretty solid representation of the H1 mask. I do love the CGP Warlock and Fear mask. The Warlock has the appearance as if it is being worn by Dick Warlock. I have since purchased an NHK Cokeman by Handiboy Studios and I must say it is incredible. Nick’s attention to detail can not be overlooked and both his HalloweenMan and NHK masks are incredible values for the money. His NHK Cokeman has easily become my favorite H2 mask.
Most accurate H1 I’ve ever seen was an HMK that Psycho Si owns done up by JC, that and the HMK Kirk that Kirk Magnum has that he had painted and haired by the Tharps, those are the two masks I’d most love to own.
That being said those aren’t really on the table. As much as I love a good HMK, the retools when they first came out were made with latex that sort of “melted” over time and lost their shape, the smalls seem to all be good, but they are not as wearable.
It really depends upon one’s head size as well.
From NAG- I’d say the 75K new mold, 75K Castle mold, Nightmare Reshape, MMK old mold/small mold, '98 Proto, and '98 Proto test mold.
From Nightowl- the Psycho SE, Shat, Creep, and NMM78 (grab an early run or something newer).
From Silver Shampain Novelties/SSN- the SSN Sandman.
CGP- The Stardate ‘78.
The Tharps’ new Kirk mask.
MCS- HMK retool, HMK small, LTSN, H2SM, and DIY masks (the H2SM new mold and DIY are now made by forum member martinpena94).
There are other greats, but I think these can best represent the hero in H1, Kirk, and H2 forms. I’d suggest looking at the gallery and doing an image search for different masks and seeing what you like the best and then having an excellent conversion artist finish it to your liking.
