_What I’m talking about here is how YOUR Myers mask collecting addiction grew into what it is today and where would you like it to be in the future?
I’m looking for three parts of the “anatomy” of your addiction.
1 - The Start - what started the whole thing?
2 - The Next Step - after your first mask what did you originally set out to accumulate for your collection? Was it one mask for each of the Halloween movies, a goodl H1/H2 mask ONLY or something else?
3 - Present/Future - What are your collecting habits now and what are your collecting goals for the future?
For me the addiction has evolved like this:
The Start - After seeing Halloween as a kid I was PUMPED when Don Post put out “The Mask”. It wasn’t perfect but so cool to finally have the white mask! I had always wanted a Myers mask and now I had one.
The Next Step - I found the wonderful world of “indie” masks and then it really hit the fan!! My original trend was to get each new mask that came out and build the collection. I can remember thinking my MMP Nightmare was a BEAST! ![]()
Present/Future - In my current stage of collecting I’ve downsized quite a bit and hold the value of QUALITY over QUANTITY.
I mostly collect a few H1/H2 masks now and like to have one good copy of the Myers’ masks that best captures the look from the other movies. Also one good copy of the masks Myers wears outside of the white mask such as the H5 car mask (the Brute), H1 clown mask, RZ Escape mask, etc.

First off Benny Great thread man ![]()
It all started for me when i watched Halloween as a Kid and ever since that i always wanted a mask that replicated the one in the movie,we live in England so we never got anything in relation to Myers Masks at all back then,it wasn’t until my family went to visit my aunt some years later in Florida i said to my mom, bring me back a mask like the one used in the movie im sure a store will have a good one
yeah talk about not knowing anything right but they couldn’t find one there for some reason so they called up my cousin who lived up in Ohio and she found one in a store there,it was a DP86 when my family returned from holiday and i got the mask i knew it wasn’t the best and looked not like the movie one so needless to say i wasn’t satisfied,so my real quest began from that point onwards to find the most accurate mask possible.
Next i like you found the wonderful world of Indie masks and all the while i had been thinking stores sold such stuff it dawned on me that wasn’t the case and it was infact independent mask makers where all this goodness was coming from,at this juncture i still hadn’t been exposed to the real cream of the crop stuff though so when i spotted a MMP Samhain for sale i thought it was like the mask Straight outta the movie and as i say my intention at the time was not on collecting a bunch of masks just a nice accurate H1 mask so that fit the bill for me my buddies aren’t clued up on Myers Masks at all so i used to pretend and say i have the mask from the movie meaning my MMP Samhain ![]()
From then i really got into the hobby and started seeing more accurate pieces and developed my eye for what looks great and what doesn’t i look back at the Samhain now and think wow it wasn’t very screen accurate at all and is infact a H4 poster mask ![]()
I have a nice collection built up now and have pieces from various movies that has just come along with my addiction,im all about quality over quantity and collecting rare pieces,as for the future im content with what i own right now and there are still a couple pieces i want like a nice 75k and maybe a H78 its funny i have some very accurate H1 masks right now but im still not content there i seem to want a Variety of H1’s there are so many accurate pieces out there im never made up totally, some say when you find your perfect mask, you won’t want another,i however disagree with that statement im always looking for better even if its not possible.
Benny, The start for me was seeing Halloween in the Theatre in 1978 and then seeing kids in their Myers masks each year at Halloween. I started collecting Myers masks 11 years ago. The NMM78 was the first mask that made me excited about collecting and then the KHDW and the Psycho. Right now I am in a holding pattern, but maintain my 30 or so Myers mask collection. I would like to sell a few and buy a few in the future. And by the way, I love this place.
For me it started back in 89 when a co- worker at the time gave me a Don post the mask. I lost that one and bought another in 95. I kept the all the way up until 07 when I bought my first info mask, a Psycopath v2 R Z mask. I have since bought a couple other masks, in 08 I bought an H78 straight from Nik, the got my sec H78 off of my good friend Zephro it was an WHY/NAG. It blew my mind, then a Warlock, and the of course my cream of the crop, my grail my Creep mask.
I have since ventured to other masks that are not Myeres related wich is my TOTS lineup. In the new future I want to get more Myeres masks, and hopefully I will get my first Psycho. And maybe just maybe get a KH/DW, but that is a really big stretch at this point as I don’t have the money for one…Dean
1- Ever since i caught Halloween on tv i was intrigued by the Myers mask and character. I always loved masks (Dr. Doom, Frankenstein) but this Myers collecting kicked into high gear when i found this site and began lurking. I was astonished that there were other people out there who liked the Myers mask, too.
2- After obtaining my first indie mask, i said to myself “Wow, that’s it! What more could i ask for.” Next thing i knew i was looking at getting other masks and i had become addicted. I focused mainly on H1 and H6. It was never my plan to obtain one mask for each film.
3- Right now, i’m still pretty much an H6 guy (that look is my favorite). I’ve also diversified and got some Dr. Decker, Collector and Hannibal masks. I’m a fairly low-key dude, and i feel at ease with my collection as it stands right now. My goal for the future is to give Bianca Kajlich a great big … hug.
The best way to go IMO, is to get one good mask, and be done with it. I’ve been collecting Indy masks since 98, and currently have NO MYERS style masks in my possession. It eats away at your soul LOL.
lol!!!

A friend and I saw Halloween in the theater in 78. We were only 15/16 at the time so his dad bought the tickets and gave them to us and we strolled in like we were 18. We were blown away and this one movie changed my life forever. We tried to go back and see it the next weekend and they wouldn’t sell his dad the tickets unless they saw who he bought them for. We were screwed!

I was on a lifelong mission - I HAD to have that mask. Unfortunately, no one made one for years. (And years) -
Somewhere around 1995-96 I stumbled upon a DP “Chalk Face” mask at a costume shop. I was elated. It was small but it was the closest thing around and I wore it until it disinigrated. In 98 I bought several 98 Shatners and converted them for myself, then others. Then we filmed a home made movie entitled “The Last Halloween.” I signed a huge petition in late 98 for DP to come out with the smaller and more detailed 99 Shatner mask. And they did. Steve Todd bought me one if I’d convert his and I did. Then me and my buddy, a renowned sculptor made our own. Then Dick Warlock sold me one of his DW/KH masks and I was in heaven. The holy grail of Myers masks, and we stopped making ours. Then things got ugly between mask makers, Gary the mask maker etc. and I just walked away from the whole Myers mask world.
-
After a 8-9 years hyatus, I’m back and am now adding a 75K and a Shat to my collection. Then I’m done. I think these two masks blow everything else away bar none, and my search for the Myers replica is now complete. I can now get back to life as a semi-normal person and start collecting Budweiser steins again lol!

Great thread! ![]()
The start - It started back in the Fall of 06 for me. I always loved masks growing up. I found a couple of old werewolf masks of mine from childhood in my fathers basement one day and just decided right there and then to finally start collecting. My favorite scary movie growing up was Halloween. Still is by the way. I always wanted the real mask. So I decided to see if I could find a nice looking Michael Myers mask.
The next step - I set out on the internet one evening to try and find where I could find such masks. I found MM.NET and became a member right away. I wanted to have the ultimate H1 and H2 masks on display. I eventually ended up buying a Nightmare from Boogeyman Productions. Then I scored a Warlock from Terry when all was cool. I thought I was done. But I kept coming back to MM.NET and seeing all kinds of killer masks and constantly changing my mind on what was the nicest H1 and H2. So I decided to keep collecting.
Present/Future - I went through about 15 masks by now and thinned out my collection a bit. I’m down to 7 Myers, 2 Loomis, and 1 Jason. think I have H1 and H2 pretty much covered for the time being. Unless I can snag a Rarer or a KH/DW. I’m still waiting on Handiboys new piece to come out. And I think I’m going to grab an MMK next year if I do well on my taxes. I also plan on owning a Fluffy and a Capt. Spaulding too some day.
Great thread, Benny!
The Start - After seeing Halloween on AMC back when I was 7 years old, I became hooked. The local blockbuster actually ended up giving me a copy of their HalloweeN, HalloweeN II, and Halloween VI on vhs because my mom rented them for me so much.
From then on, I’ve been hooked. I remember being filled with joy when my Dad bought me a don post myers mask at spencers for Halloween. I was Michael Myers every year after that.
The Next Step - After finding out that there are actually good indie mask makers out there, I began collecting and then shit hit the fan!!! My first mask that really set the bar for my collecting was my NAG/AHG H78. As soon as I picked that up, I just had to have more. I wanted to build a collection that best suited me.
Present/Future - I’ve also downsized my collection. I’m very happy with what I have and love the variety in my collection. Most of my masks are H1/H2 and really like how each one captures a particular scene best, to me, in those movies. I hope to pick up a few more pieces that really catch my eye in the future. I’m still waiting on Paul to sell me his 4 stamp. ![]()
i wanted a myers since 1978 when i saw it in theaters but could not find one that i liked …ever. i gave up. might be hard to believe but my first myers for me was the H8 CS resurrection when they were first released. it was the first mass produced mask that i could even see the myers look in even vaguely in. went threw an entire box of them found the one i loved with sweet paint and hair and was so happy. i left it out and my dog ate it. wanted to beat him…didnt. then went back to the same store and found another that was good but no as good. that was my first myers mask.
few years later i found nightowl then this mm.net and started my addiction hardcore. i wanted a mask from every movie. now i finally do.
present and future, it’s just about upgrades and finding stuff that catches my eye like a mr blister and some H4 drugstore mask that was on screen for a fraction of a second. if i like what i see i usually will not stop until it is mine. i am looking to just keep on buying and selling until my last breath. i will be on my death bed trading and selling until the end.
mike
The thing that started it for me, was the fear that the white mask instilled in me. I knew I had to have one ever since I saw it. I wanted to scare people as badly as the mask scared me.
After my first mask, I thought I was done…Until Ebay and MM.NET. From there, it just snowballed. I would see mask after mask, after mask that I just loved. Each mask I purchased or traded was better than before. I basically set out to have the best H1 or H2 masks possible, and as many as I can afford.
My collection goal now is to get another H1. I have the H2 mask of my dreams, now I need the perfect H1. For some reason, I still haven’t found it
I basically wanted many Myers masks, but, my taste has changed, and I only want a H1 and H2 mask.
i started watching these movies when i was around 5 or 6 so around 1982-83… i was hooked although mom sat up with me many nights because of nightmares but it was worth it. the halloweens, the living deads, and the nightmares and fridays… etc… once i saw in later years the white mask resembling myers i bought it. it rotted away and i bought another. it rotted aswell and then i bought a nightowl evilution and a whole world opened up. i wanted them all… the psycho, the maniac, the warlock, st. nick, etc… then i sold them all and now today i am looking for screen accurate and quality… ive had a few masks again and now i have a kirk on the way to convert it and focus on every scene i can find a good shot of the hero and make the eye cuts and weathering exactly how i want it to look. now i guess a mask has to pull off h1 and h2 or i dont want it. rather than hunting for a perfect myers now i look for amazing kirks to convert exactly how i need it.
I posted on this topic on wmp site a while back.I made a post’’ Mask addict HELP please’’ I have always been a fan and repainted a DP mask I got at spencer in the mid 90,s to wear and have looked on ebay over the last 10 years or so but never got one. This Aug I started looking at masks and the Warlock was what I always ended up on.I missed a few warlocks but purchased a few various nice blanks and masks in between then realized I had been bitten by the bug bad.I decided I would just order the Warlock I wanted the way I wanted it and it would cure me. WRONG! I got my awesome warlock and it made me worse.I think about it all the time and have sold some of my expensive guitar gear to fund my masks. I started getting knowledgeable like thick /thin pulls hair that ole c nut. I can say I never got drawn in by certain rare masks and the collector thing, for me I am a painter of monster resin kits and relic/age guitars and my mom is a artist and hair expert so it only made sense to try and that,s what interests me is the aging of the mask and making it look natural and blanks are hard to find so it,s the hunt that draws me to. I do have a nightstalker ordered and love them and just got a closet monster in and yanked the hair off it last night but my goal is to study and get good finishing masks for myself.
- I always wanted a good mask but never pulled the trigger until 09. I thought they were too expensive.
- I just wanted 1, then I saw a few others, then a accumulated a couple more.

- I am into other things now, more so older DP and Universal Monsters. Oh, and anything Casey Love. His work is outstanding!!! My future Myers consists of unique pieces and Mr. Carter masterpieces.
Great thread, B
1)For me I always loved the mask since I was a kid but when I heard it was a kirk mask I thought, Well i,ll buy me one of them kirks and make my own LOL I started looking for mask blanks to convert and ran across WMP NAG and myers.net Lastly I have always been a do it yourself kind of guy building my own tube guitar amps pedals and such and airbrushed for a living so I have to say it was always about making my own masks but I am buying a nightstalker from Chris and really dig and respect his and JC,s work greatly masks I WANT 75k creep masks I own cgp Warlock closet monster 2,mm78,s nmm78 ,nightmare masks coming nightstalker h1, 99shatner blank I will have James C convert a mask when I find the right one too
