he and I agreed on a sale price for his mask saturday. I sent payment saturday evening. This morning I get a refund from him saying he didn’t think I was interested?? So why would I send payment?? He goes on to say someone else has now offered over $20 higher than our original agreement. I countered back going $10 higher even after he reneged on me. NOW he says the offer is nearly $100 higher than my original purchase agreement. Seems shady to me, but oh well. There will be other masks.
I had only great dealings with Tony. He and I are cool and would def. Do trades again
Tony did get cold feet in one of our past transactions, but we worked through it and everything ended up being okay… No problem. Nothing major, but I just felt the need to chime in on this thread.
Other than that one experience, I have nothing but good things to say about Tony. He’s a respected member of this site. I would definitely do business with him again without thinking twice and I’d vouch for him any time.
Tony backed out of a deal after you already sent payment? That doesn’t sound like him… hmmm.
I just wanted to say that all of my deals with him have been smooth and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy/sell from/to him again.
Just wanted to clear things up, I sent the Potential buyer my Paypal address and after 12 -14 hours without a response or payment, I assumed the buyer backed out. That is typically the way it always happens. I had another buyer give me 100.00 to hold the mask and he gladly did that. Therefore the buyer was entitled to the mask since nothing had ever been received from the potential buyer. It’s not a money thing at all.(Frankie can vouch for that from the “cold feet” I got when I eventually sold him the NAG/AHG H78’ proto.) I just did what I thought was the right thing to do and when the potential buyer finally sent payment, I did the right thing and refunded it.
Tony
Hey Tony, I’ll give my thoughts here since I’ve dealt w/ you in the past w/ no problems. When you verbally agree to sell someone a mask, while it’s not a contract, I believe that you should allow them more than 12-14 hours to reply to you or send payment. Not everyone can visit this site every day. You should clearly state in your classified that you give buyers that offer an upfront payment first dibs on the mask. It can get frustrating to have someone sell a mask to someone else b/c you couldn’t hop on that day to reply to them. Now if you actually went out of your way to sell to another interested party simply b/c he offered $100 on top of the other offer, that can be looked down upon. Think about how things would work on eBay if someone sold an item and didn’t get payment within 12-14 hours so they sold to the 2nd highest bidder. It would cause a lot of uproar. I’m not siding with anyone here, just offering my opinion . It’s your right to do what you want with your masks and sell to whomever you choose, but from an ethical standpoint I think you may have reacted a little prematurely thinking the other guy backed out. He also said he sent the payment and you refunded it, but you say that he never sent it. What gives?
I see your point Chad, thanks for bringing this to my attention. What I was mainly getting at was that the the guy that bought the mask had payment in before the other guy did. After the 12-14 hour wait time I let the buyer know that the mask was still for sale. The buyer actually offered me the extra 100.00 when I told him that the mask was pretty much sold. I still stayed true to the deal that the potential buyer and I agreed on, like I mentioned previously, while waiting on the lengthy wait time for the potential buyer to let me know something, I told the buyer to go ahead and send payment and I didn’t believe the other guy was no longer interested. I have been done that way so many times and I didn’t want to lose a fore sure buyer because the money was needed pretty bad at the time and I really didn’t want to take that chance. To make a long story short, the buyer sent payment first and the potential buyer was around 2-4 hours behind the buyer’s payment. Once I realized both parties had sent payment, I refunded the potential buyer’s money since the buyer had sent payment first. I felt that was the right thing to do. I will admit, I was really anxious to get some sort of payment in, so I guess that may have been a considerable factor as well, so I guess I am sorta in the wrong possibly. Anyway, I hope this clears up any confusion there may have been about this post.
Tony is a straight up guy, I have never had any issue with him. He got a size wrong on some coveralls I bought from him but he made it right instantly. Tony is A-Okay in my book.
I once was working out a deal with Tony, we made the deal he never came through with payment and didn’t even care to respond to me and let me know he was no longer interested.
That was my first and last deal with him
