BUYER BEWARE: "MadMasker1978" aka Will Crespo

So this is probably an old story to some of the folks who have been around for awhile but just for everyone’s knowledge, here goes:

Early September 2018: I contacted “MadMasker1978” (Will Crespo) in regards to having a TOTS 2018 Myers mask completely re-hauled. We agreed to a price and I sent my mask and the payment to him. No problem. Will stated that he would likely have it done within a few weeks… A few weeks goes by and he still hasn’t gotten to it. Okay, fair enough. I’m a reasonable person. I wait.

Several more weeks go by, and still no progress. I texted Will throughout this period weekly and would usually receive a response within a reasonable amount of time.

However, by mid to late November with nothing to show for it, I contacted Will and we agreed to set a firm deadline in regards to my order. We both agreed upon December 3, 2018 (two weeks from the day of this agreement) that my order would be completely rehauled and shipped to back to me. If not, Will would refund my money and send back my mask, no worries. Will apologized for the delays, giving numerous reasons for said delays. Being a reasonable person, I can understand that yes, sometimes life happens. However, I also felt it was completely reasonable on my part to set this firm deadline and agreement. Right?

The last time I heard from Will was on Thanksgiving whereupon I wished him a happy holiday. I next attempted to contact him on the agreed-upon date of December 3. No response. I have tried several times since then to contact him both via phone and email (his wife’s email apparently is the one where the PayPal goes).

No response.

Nada.

Zilch.

Zero.

Am I pissed? Yeah a little. But having done my research on him AFTER paying (silly me), I found out he has done this before. We spoke about this, and Will claimed that he was the victim of mods not liking him or something along those lines. However, it appears that I have lost the money AND the mask. Sucks, right?

Has anyone heard from this guy recently? I have his phone number here (773-344-6275), his paypal email (s.gonzalez621@yahoo.com), and his provided address, which is his mothers’ according to him (William Crespo 3130 N. Kenneth ave Chicago IL 60641).

I have a feeling I got burned. Which sucks, but I understand it is unfortunately pretty common around here and in this hobby.

Gosh! That sucks, and he was the first person I was thinking about sending my mask to get rehauled. I’m glad I didn’t choose him after hearing this. Did you pay goods and services or family and friend PayPal?

I should’ve trusted my instincts and used goods and services. Unfortunately, I did not.

Yeah man sucks, I usually pay friends and family also, hope someone else here can give you some advice on how to proceed. This guy sounds like a total asswipe

You may want to join the facebook group. There have been numerous threads there for the past several days regarding this person and this same situation for numerous people

I don’t do facebook anymore, but if there is any way I can help, I would be more than happy to.

And the sad thing is, he even had a moderator stick up for him after I asked for a reference.

That sucks. We could all prank call him and get all fatal attraction on him. Send a dead rat in a box to his house wrapped as a present

If you have never dealt or heard of someone before it’s never a bad idea to check the scammer list that’s stickied on the site. He ripped some people off here like 4 years ago and was added to the list then.

Not saying that this is what happened, but there is a chance your mask is gone man. He may of sold it on GREEDBay for a much higher price than what you were going to pay. Which if it’s true, is total shit man. Not saying that is what happened here, but it’s possible. Shit sucks man. Nothing worse than getting burned in the worst way possible.

He has sold rehauled masks (at least one) on eBay apparently. I saw a youtuber review one. Wouldn’t surprise me at this point. Cowardly.

I know the chances are nill at this point but the inside of the mask was marked “J-3” and “2001” (in ink) prior to shipping.

I hope this isn’t the case, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he ‘borrowed’ your mask to fulfil a mask supply/rehaul, and then backfill your rehaul order with a new mask from TOTS, not expecting them to be out of stock until the New Year.

Really sorry you’re having to deal with this, and I hope we’re all wrong and you get it back.

Hoping PayPal sides with you, provide them with corresponding dates of delivery of your mask as well as his messages and texts. He is a degenerate and that’s why I made a list of respectable and trustworthy artists in the FB group to do overhaul work. I’m sorry this happened but from this point forward NEVER use Friends & Family and steer clear of those who ask you to do so.

I don’t expect to get my money or my mask back. If that’s the case, karma’s a bitch. Merry fucking Christmas.

God dammit, Will? Really??

Why is simple communication and respect so hard to come by these days!? If these people cannot commit to the work they should never have taken the money. There must have been a few dozen guys through the years that have done this, that includes pro mask makers.

Live and learn. DON’T do business with this guy.

I was very close to sending my mask to William simply due to the convenience of him living only an hour away from me. I’m glad I dragged my feet on it and never actually sent him my mask.

Also, when he and I were still in communication, he mentioned how he was able to obtain two of the “closet prototype” masks at mask fest under somewhat false pretenses even though they were one per customer apparently.
