Identical replica of hero mask or dead-on screen-cap mask?
- Hero replica
- Perfect screen-cap replica
Hey,guys.I’m sure this has been posted numerous times over the years, but hey…maybe some new people will chime in
I was just looking through a post where a member was shocked by the similarity of a mask compared at a certain angle in a behind the scenes shot.My question is,if we could hold the hero in our hands, would we be satisfied with it’s look or would we be kind of disappointed in it’s overall look?As we all have commented on and are well aware of,so many factors made the “Myers look”.Lighting, person wearing the mask, angles, etc. So,isn’t it true that what we are trying to buy is a replica that is very unique?A replica of a mask with a certain individuals face plastered into it.Although we all would give anything to even touch the original masks, would you rather hold in your hands an identical replica of the original unworn mask or a mask that replicates the look of the mask with a person’s face inside of it.Although both are intriguing, which would you chose if you could only have one mask? What if the original mask didn’t capture the look on you?
REMEMBER,ONLY ONE…REALLY THINK IT OVER!!!
even though a perfect on screen replica would be awsome nothing would be as cool or have the look the original had.
wow that is something i have to think about great post to be honest we all would love to have the original but to be honest what was done and created only once by fluke -may artists have tried to replicate it’s look and come up with many designs due to the way both H1 and H2 were filmed in it’s shadowy lighting
Unless there was a clear cut picture of the Original Hero ( maybe carpenters has one with full detail and really well light lighting with and without the mask on someone - i would have to say original. My thing is if it would fit my noggin is another question
so it’s the Perfect screen-cap replica for me cause it depends on the scene I’m looking for remember it took 2 or 3 mask to shot HALLOWEEN so the looks will vary from scene to scene.
great thread
It is a very tough choice for sure. But when i really think about it, the look i really like the most is of the mask on Nick Castles etc… face. So i would have to say that if i could only have ONE!, i would rather have the replica that looked as though the face was already inside. I have honestly never thought of it this way before. Of course i realize that different people and different size masks make the difference in what the mask actually looks like being worn. And if you are lucky enough to be able to wear the Hero in the same way as Castle, then sure, why not go for the exact mask. However if you do not have a face that fits the mask perfectly or if you even want the mask just for display purposes i believe i would rather have the sculpt look as though the shape was already in the mask. I am fairly new to this site and have not had the chance to vote on such a question before, so thank you “myerstat” for making me think. It is a good question, and i think ive made up my mind. Id go with the replica for the shape not the exact Hero. BUT ONLY IF I COULD JUST HAVE ONE!! haha…

I would rather have an original don post 75 captain kirk mask converted by tommy wallace.
as if he could cut the eyecuts the same…
lol
how could you convert one man??? that hurts my soul. lol
I’ve yet to see a “screen used” edition from Nik that I thought looked good. H78 conversions are the best imo.
I like a mask you don’t have to do a lot with to get a certain look, but nothing beats a mask made well of the right kind of flexible latex that magically takes on the Shape as you stuff it a certain way. Much of my love for the hero is that is looks so different depending on the circumstance/picture etc., And that we can sometimes get that same chameleon effect in a replica is amazing. So, an edge goes to the unworn hero replica, provided it’s extremely well made and accurately flexible.
OMG I know. I had to read that twice to make sure that was really what I read lol. Yeah… intheory… If you ever had an original 75 Kirk and had it converted (Cut, painted, altered the hair ect…), I would probably have to come and smack you.
In the words of sandman78… “Some people freak me out!” lol.
Im content with what I have. Chalk this guy up a vote for Hero Replica. I do like the screen cap replicas, but I personally love to have a mask that is more Kirk like that has been converted close to the hero as possible. Id rather see it sitting there looking like the Hero un worn.
