Cinema Secrets H8 overhaul......

Thanking you kindly guys!

Hi all,

This custom overhaul was done by Father Phantom Studio at my request. I am very appreciative of the team at FPS for taking an unloved CS Res mask and re-tooling it.

Unfortunately about 18 months ago, I got scammed on eBay. The scammer used an image from someone’s personal collection (sourced from this forum, actually) to sell a severely inferior mask. I was able to get the majority of my money back through PayPal, but eBay said they wouldn’t refund the shipping of $30 or so.

With a crappy mask (see first post) I contacted FPS through Facebook on the hope they’d take on the commission.

I’m not trying to flog a dead horse, but I have so much praise for this piece. They turned a crappy latex mask (I think it may have been a deluxe version? … clearly the word deluxe is used loosely here :stuck_out_tongue: ) into what I think is an amazing piece.

I think a lot of us can agree that H:R is not a great movie. But I have always loved the mask. After the initial run of CS Res masks were snapped up in the early 2000s, I didn’t think I’d ever have a chance to own a screen accurate piece.

Thanks to the kind duo at FPS for really smashing this piece and giving me the mask I’ve spent so long looking for!

I want it! Thinking about sending mine to Ben.

I h8 the h8, lol. But you did great. Looks like a completely different mask!

not a fan of the resurrection mask, but you totally nailed it to screen accuracy. Great work!

I dig the H8 and love all the masks from the series. Any myers mask is a good mask imo. And that is one badass piece you got there brother. Ben did a fantastic job as always. Congrats

Makes me want mine redone again!! wow your talent just gets better and better my friend!

I think you should. It’ll turn a basic mask into a highly prized piece. It was well worth it for me!

Pft! Your deluxe looks great!

Can you post some personal photos of the overhauled mask?

Yes! Of course.

Here’s the mask as purchased, scammed. I am unsure, but I think it may have been a ‘deluxe.’ If anyone knows otherwise, please let me know!

Here is the mask painted and re-haired, re-shaped and the mouth closed up.

Here is a comparison of the mask next to another CS Res ask I got on eBay years ago. I am still amazed that it is the same mask just… better.

If anyone knows the type of mask on the left, I would be very appreciative. When I decided to have the mask re-done, I chose to stick with the scammed mask, as out of those two, I preferred the paint of the one on the left.

And just for funsies, my mask next to a NECA FvJ repainted by Cursed Camp Studios, and a JX latex mask by Scarewear.

(Apologies if some of the pictures are shown in landscape, instead of portrait. If you copy the image source and pate into your URL bar, you should be able to see them in their correct portrait orientation.)

Just curious, when you say “scammed” what do you mean? The mask that you had Ben redo for you was a real deal Cinema Secrets Deluxe LM103 version. Was it just that you weren’t happy with it overall, was it advertised as being something different or was there something wrong with it that the seller didn’t reveal to you? Edit: Nevermind. I now see your earlier post about the seller using a photo that wasn’t theirs in advertising the mask.

As far as Deluxes go though, that one appears to have been in pretty typical shape for that version given its age.

By the way, that Resurrection mask on the left, that you are asking whether anyone knows what type it is, it’s a repaint from that jackoff New Jersey ghostofmars eBay guy. His paint work is absolutely unmistakable with the offensive hyper-shading he does on everything he touches. If you held a gun to my head, and I had to bet, I would say that it began as an Economy LM106 as many of those versions used to be available with the same synthetic hair as the Deluxes.

Yep, the mask was advertised with description and photo as the rare hard to find version; the mask itself was plain in comparison. The image used was taken directly from another poster’s personal collection (from this forum). Now if that mask arrived I’d have been very happy…

Thanks for your information on the LM106. I am guessing based on the coding that it is an inferior mask to the LM103?

The item number coding actually doesn’t signify anything in particular, it’s just the way Cinema Secrets ended up doing it. But, yes, the LM106s were technically inferior - same sculpt, but not painted as nicely as the LM103s & some had the same synthetic hair as the Deluxes while others had a kind of fur hair cap glued to the scalp much like the ToTs H6 has.

Thank you again for the kind words guys! Loving the pictures my friend!

Damn, you did good!

Never get sick of this. Amazing work, Ben!

There’s another thread that mentioned CS was advertising the LM106 reissue masks on Amazon that came from the USA as Deluxe masks. The LM106 masks that came from China with fur hair were sold as “Economy masks”.
