I agree that we have to be careful and like I stated in my last post,talking openly about trying to still buy and sell here endangers this place.However,I do think people should be able to vent,as long as it is not mentioning “them” and looking for loopholes in an open forum.I understand the frustration,as I am also frustrated,but Derek’s hands are certainly tied here,unfortunately.
It definitely helps cool the heat BIG TIME now that the Classifieds are gone.That,I’m sure was the meat of the issue.

i understand the issue with the liscences and all, but why is it ok for places like craigslist to do the same thing as our classifieds, but ours gets attacked and shut down? I know there not selling masks but Im sure theres a bunch of bootleg stuff on the list. I dont know , maybe someone could shed light, I thought the idea bout a new mod spot is cool.

The 'powers that be" are miffed at what…a $70-$80 K a year business scene??? Even with some limited masks going for absurd prices, I’d bet if you added up the total Myers mask sales from the major mask makers it would not top 100K. “They” are mad at financial loss but have the time and money to pay people to spy on horror websites? pfff…insane.
That being said, heat is on Derek and he’s thinking of the survival of the site. I can appreciate that and hope that MM.Net lives on. Im no legal guy, but if anything isn’t the beef they have with the actual mask makers, and not with people selling or trading their used goods?
I can sell my used MacBook, my used mongoose bike, an old comic or baseball card…why can’t I sell my myers mask?

Absolutely true.Us selling the stuff or trading should not be the issue.Thing is,I’m no legal guy either,but I am willing to bet it becomes an issue if the owner of a site allows what these people consider “bootleg” goods to be showcased for monetary gain.It sucks,but I’m sure Derek pulled the Classifieds after doing his homework on the legality of it all.
Ya, we have to get our masks elsewhere cause what they produce is crap and not worth a damn. Wonder if they ask “Why do they buy bootleg masks”
honestly i think the bottom line is trancas cant stop mask makers from producing masks. it would be a long costly court battle with each individual artist and trancas knows it wouldnt be worth their time and money. if they could make them stop making myers replicas, they would have done that instead of just forcing webmasters to take down sites.
so they are doing the next best thing, shutting down websites were the masks are sold. there were replicas sold here, so they threw their weight around and pressured the senario ‘loose the classifieds or loose the site’.
way to show appreciation for the die hard Halloween fans.
and afew of you might be right, if trancas reads us coming up with a legal (loophole) ways to sale our used replicas, it would probably just piss them off enough that they would try to shut down the site entirely.

This is some bs man wtf…that company is mad cuz they didn’t put the time in to make the masks as well as people like gary monger. And holleywood chris…so they didn’t make as much money off mask as they have and people who have sold them… This is not just a hobby its a way of life I’m so luck I have every mask I want already other wise I would be on a rampage right now…I can’t beleave this garbage…screw this …thanks derick 4 every think u have done 4 this site long live Michael-Myers.Net!!!
