Hey guys, Ive been out for the last few months and have missed quite a bit over hear. I remember Billy had a thread he was going too post concerning the history of “the mask” with some intresting facts. I was looking forward too giving that a read. Was that ever posted?

Nope, I never did due to issues with peoples egos and personal beliefs. Don Post was very generous with the info too.
Maybe down the road but not at this time. Much like my Halloween III mask article for the HMA with interviews with Don Post, Rob Tharp and a special surprise interview. LOTS of fun and cool info.

Billy, I say go for it and post whatever you have too say. This is a hobby that’s suppose too be fun, when it stops being fun it becomes work. I say you’ll always have those ego’s telling you what not too say and what not too post, but hey freedom of speech is what this country should of been built on and if people wan’t too speak up or speak out than let them. Why spend all the time compiling all this “incredible information” only to hold it over all our heads as if you think we need to “shape up a bit” first? That’s what I want to know.
This whole damn portion of the hobby is stagnant for a lot of people right now, anyway. It would be INCREDIBLY AWESOME to see a thread or post with the kind of informative caliber that you say you’ve achieved with this article, Billy. That’s exactly what this place needs right now. Saying “Nope! Losers weepers!” to thousands of fans, and noting that “Don Post was generous with the information” to make everyone feel worse - all just because 10 or 20 people rub you the wrong way - comes off as selfish and awful, in my opinion.
If Post is so “generous” with this information, then why can’t any of us fans just meet up with him at the next convention of which he is in attendance and ask him ourselves? That seems easy enough.

I’m not holding any information over anyone’s head; I could really careless about who reads it and who doesn’t. However, I’m not going to list names about who did what or why or what life cast was used. (There is WAY to much miss information. That is not what the article was originally going to be about in the first place. I have one person’s side, not the sculptors. That is something I’ve tried to do, is contact the sculptor but have failed so far in my attempts.) That is a problem and I have discussed with people who have pmed me and who what to read the article. When I feel the time is right I will gladly post the article with all names removed and give the basic general info.
Peoples egos; I’m not posting information if it will cause a ruckus or is inaccurate.
Personal beliefs; I’m not going to post name information without having both sides for clarification. I did that in the past due to wrong information that I’ve read and I’m not doing that again.
If you want to ask Post about the information, go ahead. Ask him at a convention, I’m surprised that no one has and posted about it. I’m not privy, I just ask him a question and he will either answer or won’t. I was asked to ask Don Post about this subject and he gave me some info thru the past years.
In 1982 when I was 11, I wrote Don Post asking about the mask for Halloween. He wrote back with info. Then when I met him back in 1995 he remembered me and my letter and we’ve corresponded since. That’s how it started, me asking a Don Post a question when I was 11.
I see. Thanks for clarifying all that. It sounded like you were just gathering all kinds of info to sit on it until you saw fit to release it. 'Glad to hear I was wrong…and I’m sorry for sounding so mean-spirited in my response.
Well, I’ll be anxious to hear about your findings once you’re sure you have all the correct information. Here’s hoping you can get in contact with that sculptor sometime soon, and good luck finding the facts you require! It’d be cool to finally know exactly what this article is all about.

Billy, when Bill Malone did the interview for the HMA he mentioned that out of the two back-up masks made for H1 he kept one for himself. Later on he lend it to DP Jr. and never got it back. Does this lost mask have any involvment??
