The Elrod is somewhat of an under rated mask. A lot of folks write it off due to the hair, eye cuts, and size. But as evident in this thread, a good overhaul brings out it’s quality. It is a NightOwl Psycho after all, a mask that was intended to be an H1 design to begin with.

It has to be mentioned that I believe this was originally going to be TOTS’ H1 mask, but when the rights didn’t happen and went to Rubies, it became the H2 Elrod… (originally titled H2 clean, or H2 opening scene mask, something along those lines).

When the prototype of this mask was on display at conventions before the rights were handed to Rubies, it did have proper camel hair, and not the synthetic fur it comes with now. It is the closest mask TOTS has, aside from maybe their Kirk, to the original mask.

The size is on the smaller side, but the original mask was smaller as well, hence why it was a snug fit on Castle and Warlock.

This overhaul just goes to show that the Elrods potential is there for an honest H1 representation. Great job on this overhaul my friend!

Just grabbed an Elrod yesterday should be here Wednesday. Are these rather rare? I seem to see alot more hospitals available than Elrod I’m guessing because it at the current time is the cheapest closest h1 mask. But am I right to say it’s a bit harder to get? Just curious as I’d like to rehaul one but I also like having a stock version unaltered of all the masks I have rehauled as well, but if it’s going to be harder and more expensive to find i may leave this one stock.

No their not especially rare, but mostly just the more popular choice over the Hospital mask due to it being the one that’s closer to what the original mask was. TOTS will be rolling those out in droves later this year so the availability will go up again. I think if the hair was camel instead of that synthetic stuff, it would be easier to just leave it stock.

But that hair is one of the main things you will want to change if your going to do anything to it. The eye cuts may need adjusted a bit too. I think the mask looks just fine as is, except for the hair and eye cuts. If you could only change two things about it, those are the two I would change/fix.

A full overhaul makes them look great, but if your going for minimal modifications, then hair and eyes is what you want to focus on.

Thanks… yeah I don’t know fully how tots works expect the pre orders then every other mask they say is just out of stock so wasn’t sure they would make any more at all. I plan on doing total rehauls of the hospital and Elrod once I get second copies but I do like having the stock version around so people can see the difference and just to give the respect to the original makers as well. I’ll have to keep my eyes out for them. Thanks

I spoke too soon just checked out TOTS site the Elrod, h2 deluxe, ressurecrion and h20 masks are all back to buy now.
