Following the other thread I’ve opened, considering I don’t live in the US so I cannot take advantage of the great deals of shopping joints you have (I only have Ikea here) which of these staffing methods you’d use or recommend for displaying a mask, keep it in place and avoid warping or any other sort of damage? I’m going to grab a Detolf soon, and my Shape78 should be here in the next 2 weeks, so it’s time to think about a staffing.
So which of these options do you prefer or recommend? of course you can also suggest somethig else, just bear in mind I don’t have access to American stores, Artists etc, all I have is Amazon EU and Ikea in case.
I use Polyfill cotton fibers from any craft stores, like Michaels. I know allot of veteran collectors use this to stuff their masks. Then I place my masks on a plastic or iron paper towel holders. Works great and us cheap. if you’re going to use Styrofoam, please cover it with a couple of plastic bags. Styrofoam sucks the moisture out of latex, and could make your mask turn into a rock. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYHQ2IiPFdc
Paper towel holder from Walmart for 1.97 and plastic bags. Then I use a black plastic bag to slip in front of the eyes and flat out to black out the eyes
well if styrofoam doesn’t really make things easier I can do without it, just trying to understand what works best and eventually purchase it, I was just wondering if the top of the paper holder/bottle or anything else would stretch or stress the upper part of the mask if you just hang it on it since it’s a pointed rod and doesn’t really fill the mask.
What I do is I make sure I stuff the mask really well. Don’t over stuff it though. Just stuff it wear it looks natural, and not bloated. And when I place it on the stand, I make sure the top of the stand is about 1/12 to 2 1/2 inches from the upper part of the mask.I like to have stuffing that separates the top of the stand, from the roof of the mask. I’m very paranoid when it comes to that as well. lol
