FEATURED ARTIST: Horror Sanctum Studios

Michael-Myers.net has a NEW feature on the homepage - “FEATURED ARTIST.” An artist/studio will now be featured on the homepage for the period of 2 months. After that 2 months, a new artist will be selected. This will include a description of the artist/studio, and 3 pieces or items offered by the artist. Our first featured artist will be Sam McCain/HORROR SANCTUM STUDIOS.

HORROR SANCTUM STUDIOS (HSS) was started in 1981 by Don Post and Distortions Unlimited employee Sam McCain. Sam McCain produced the first Licensed Michael Myers and Jason mask ever produced at that time. Also, in 1985 HSS produced the first wearable Freddy mask. Horror Sanctum still produces high quality masks after 30 years in the business.

Ditto. The home page was missing something…and I think you found it.

Sam is very worthy of this featured artist honor.

This is a very cool feature D! Thanks for making this site even better!

Very cool feature I like it :sunglasses:

This is a nice addition to the mainpage, but my question is will artists beyond those who advertise on this site be featured, such as Justin Mabry, Dennis Beckstrom, Ken Hertlein, etc.?

From a chronological standpoint Justin Mabry should be the next featured artist as …

(1) his original NM78 released in 2002 really set the standard for the indy Myers replica market that its in today

(2) I think its important to expose novice members to artists beyond those who advertise their masks for sale on this website.

(3) It’s Justin f’ing Mabry, need I say more? :smiling_imp:

Every mask maker is featured in the gallery with a link to buy their masks if they are currently for sale. This is free promotion, and we have received PM’s from artists thanking us for linking to them, as this has lead to sales for them. I can only see this increasing over time now that we have the links in place for every mask on the market. The homepage will feature artists who come to an agreement with me. I have tried featuring Justin on the homepage countless amounts of times but he does not promote his Myers related pieces for several reasons (as you will notice, Myers pieces are nowhere to be found on his homepage or catalog). I will be contacting him to see if his stance has changed in the near future. If he declines, trust me he is well known and is obviously highly regarded in this community.

Take Care,
Derek

Love the feature. Hope Justin will show us his latest white looking type of mask that looks similar to one that is well known from a somewhat well known douche baggery of a company

Great addition to the site Derek and I can’t think of anyone better to be the first artist. Congrats sam.

Love Sam’s work!
Just sent payment for a new score

I love the quality of Sam’s masks. They feel as though they are real Halloween masks that you would buy in a Halloween store (but obviously better quality). Just something about the latex he uses that I “trust”. Keep it coming Sam, please. To me you are a highly valued part of this community and hobby.

Good idea.

I like what your doing with the website.

I love the new feature!!! perhaps maybe for the next featured artist WE members of this forum can vote on who we would like to see on the homepage…

Congrats my friend!! You deserve this Sam!!!

And great idea Derek…knowing more about the artists around here is a great idea

Speaking of HSS, what happened to the 99 Kirk thread?

It was unstickied to make room for zephro’s post.

Sam is a great guy and his lineup is amazing. I have a Devious Tramer that I won from him, and it’s a highlight of my collection. The latex he uses is fantastic, the paint looks great and has many layered tones… and on top of that, the hair work is exceptional. As someone said earlier, it feels like a mask you would buy in a specialty store somewhere…only far far better.

Glad to see he was first to be featured, he is one of the top guys in my mind… just typing this up makes me want to place an order.

Sams mask are by far awesome and he is well deserving of this feature…Ya the latex he uses does have that professional store bout feel but the 2 mask from him i own are definetly the highlight of my collection hopefully i will soon be adding another mask from him to it!!

Great work Sam!!!

WELL said bro! I have felt the same way! Ive got many killer masks that I love but when a HSS mask comes in the mail? shit it coud be a 95 degree July afternoon and Halloween and Autumn jump right out of the box. Ive got Sam’s H2; his H4 and two Devious…the quality is superb.
Sam is an incredible artist. I know he said he’s ended his Myers run but man Id LOVE to see him take a shot at a h5 mask!

Ditto!

I would LOVE for him to make a Zombie Myers!
