Hi all- sorry if this has already been discussed but I couldn’t find a thread for it- after all of us have already seen and overanalyzed to hell Halloween (2018), what are your guys’ thoughts on it versus the abandoned Halloween Returns script we got a few years ago? In my opinion it definitely would’ve been an interesting take on a sequel taking place directly after H1, but felt a little bit too slashery for me. Though I definitely would’ve loved Gary Oldman taking on the role of Loomis. (I edited a picture of Oldman as Loomis below)

Gary Oldman, now that would be a decent Loomis I think. We will probably never get to see how he would do, but I do like the idea of him taking the role on. I could definitely see him as Loomis.
As for Halloween Returns, I thought it seemed a bit too ambitious, and more slashery than H40. I thoroughly enjoyed H40. It’s positives more than outweigh the negatives for me.
I thought it sounded really cool. Can you explain what “too slashery” means?
Slashery, lol, a word I created in describing what I feel is more like a Friday the 13th or something along those lines as it pertains to slasher flicks. H40 still had more of a Friday the 13th slasher vibe as well, but Halloween Returns, at least in reading it, felt like it went there even more. Sorry, sometimes I just make up terms in my own dictionary lol.
And with that said, that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the read, it did sound interesting for sure, but I just prefer what they did in H40 versus the script for Halloween Returns.
H40 was more simplified, I like simple horror flicks. But then again I like Halloween 6, especially the producers cut, so I contradict myself in that regard lol. That’s a complicated, convoluted mess, but I love it!
