Prior to seeing the trailer one of my biggest fears was this movie pulling an Iron Man 3 at the end with Michael.
The series will never die, much like the Shape himself.
I don’t think there will ever be a definitive end, partly because no one will get it right and make everyone happy (some want The Shape to live like the ending of the original, some want Michael to die like they thought H:20 did, some will be happy with this sequel some will not), the other part is that it makes too much money in both merchandising and movie sales.
Did they need to make a Halloween after the original which ended perfectly, no, but after the slasher craze started up in the early 80’s they knew there was money there. Did they need to make a Star Wars movie after Jedi wrapped everything up perfectly, no, but there was money in it, etc.
I have major mixed feelings about a sequel to this film. If this film is as good as I feel like it will be, I’d be completely happy with this being the final one. A big part of me feel the same as SamLoomis78: It started with John carpenter, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Nick castle and it would be perfect to end it with them.
I know that if they kill Michael in this, I won’t want a sequel. Period. I don’t want to see another fake death. If you kill him, leave him dead and end the series.
On the other hand, if Michael lives and the studio pushes for another Halloween, I wouldn’t flat-out HATE the idea of a sequel. However, I would want them to take their time and make sure it’s a quality follow up. As much as I love the franchise, many of the films are (in my opinion) not that great.
