Dimension Films has announced that fans of Michael Myers should put a big red circle around October 26, 2012 on their calendars.Budget:
$23,000,000
That’s when the company is expected to release Halloween 3D.
Of course, at this time, we have no clue who is directing or which script they are going with. Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer penned a draft which picks up after the events of Rob Zombie’s Halloween II. The story concerns Laurie Strode in a mental hospital and there’s a part for Tom Atkins to co-star.
Lussier and Farmer, however, are neck-deep in the Hellraiser redo script.
Are the Weinstein brothers pulling the duo off that project to get Halloween 3D rolling? Writer Todd Farmer had this to say about this script: “We took Rob Zombie’s story and continued it, but we did it in a way that sort of pulled it back to the John Carpenter tone and intention, and we didn’t cheat. We didn’t break any of the rules. We used the rules Zombie had established, and it felt good because it felt like a complete story, and we’re still hopeful that one day it’ll happen.”
Originally had an October 2010 theatrical release planned.
Production was originally said to begin sometime in November '09, however the Weinstein’s decided that the project was being too rushed to accomidate director Patrick Lussier’s schedule, so they opted to put everything on hold until he’s free to work on this sequel.
This marks the return of director Patrick Lussier and writer Todd Farmer, who both worked on the My Bloody Valentine 3D remake together.
This will be in 3D.

Wonder if Rob Zombie is out as the director ( No offence I did enjoy parts of both RZ Films but still glad to see someone else tackle it ) Will Tyler return as Myers ?
I moved it here because it is continuing what Rob Zombie started. He may not be directing it, but it is continuing his storyline, therefore, it will fit in this section better.
Thats what I heard as-well, I bet the new director will go another direction entirely. they can write it up anyway they wont, but the way its portrayed on film will be up to the director.
I don’t know if it was a mistake or it was a moved date but on Dimension’s official twitter account they had made mention that the release date for H3D was Oct 12th 2012.
I know the official halloweenmovies website said the 26th, but I remember finding that odd when I saw it on DF’s official twitter account for the 12th.
Glad to see myers again. Sad that rob wont be apart of it. I myself am more a Jason Voorhess fan but really got into myers with the rob zombie flims. Deff interested in seeing this movie and the direction they take it. There is lots of rumors going around bout it.
Yes 2013 is the earliest date now, That Oct 26th date is old history and since they are way off from even starting the film, and don’t even have the whole cast lined up yet, One Thing about Movies, Don’t believe any rumors until they actually on site Filming.
I really wish they would leave Zombie’s story alone and just reboot again. There’s no confirmation yet, but the word is that Lussier and Farmer are probably not going to do it now, which is fine by me since I’ve yet to see a film by Lussier and Farmer that I liked.
At this point I’m all for a reboot or a standalone story. Leave Zombie’s films and the original series behind and do something NEW.
All I know is that once this movie is made, there’s gonna be some more replica masks to collect. I wonder what the myers mask from this movie will look like.
All I know is that the only things I liked from the two RZ films were the Myers costumes and how Myers was portrayed by Tyler Mane. Mane might have brought some “personality” to the character, but he is STILL the Shape and always will be. What sucks is how he was written. There were some elements of his backstory I liked (such as his fascination with creating masks, and the idea that his famous “Shape mask” was used for Judith’s murder), but overall RZ did, IMHO, a pretty lousy job of making Halloween, Halloween.
