Halloween is my favorite time of year. I look forward to it all year long. But this year it was completely ruined. My dog Thor was having diarrhea for a few days and on Monday he was vomiting a lot. The vet put him on IVs, did some blood work and took x-rays. They determining that he had been suffering from severe gastritis that had come to a head. They were also suspicious of an area in the stomach by looking at the x-rays. An ultra sound was performed and identified a gas pocket trapped in his stomach wall. He was transferred to an emergency facility where he stayed for three days on IVs being pumped full of drugs. He was released to me yesterday with instructions to see an Internal Medicine Specialist to have an Endoscopy performed to first determine that it is in fact a gas pocket and not something more serious. And then to determine what exactly we need to do to get rid of it. He’s at home with me now under stable condition but on a bunch of meds that have him feeling terrible. My appointment to see the specialist which btw is 2 hours away from me isn’t until Tuesday. I’ve already spent $4100 and I’m about to have an Endoscopy performed with another specialist. So I imagine my total by the end of next week is going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of $6000. 
Needless to say… I may have to sell off most of my collection to even begin to recover from this terrible time. 
I probably won’t be on here much for a while as I need to spend all the time I can with Thor. He’s 10 1/2 years old now. A German Shepherd’s life expectancy is between 10 and 12. I know I don’t have much time left with him. But f#@k this shIt man!.. I’m not throwing in the towel yet. I refuse to allow him to leave me. It’s not time! 
I don’t even give a shIt about the money anymore. I’d rather have him than money any day.

Hats off to you for standing up for a member of your family. Thor is lucky to have a good owner like you and what a beautiful dog he is.
That sounds so stressful!! Our pet are like family and give them just as much care as family members. You’ll recoup the money, but the time we have with our fur babies are limited. Speedy recovery to Thor.

My gosh, I truly hate to hear that. I understand what it’s like when your dog isn’t doing well, and how it is to lose them. I’ve lost 2 dogs over the past few years, and before they died, I was with them, and it’s so hard to see them suffer. It’s like seeing a person with not much time left in a hospital bed. I hope your pal Thor gets better as soon as possible, and lives on for many healthy years to come.
I’m so sorry to hear you going through all this. That’s the right mindset to have, not time to throw the towel in just yet! I’ve been in the same position with my cat for the past two years, so I understand the money isn’t relevant mindset. Hang in there man! So sorry to hear this. Spend all your time with him. I have been through this too, dogs are family to me and losing ours was so rough on me. Tearing up just writing this. Man, i seriously am crying from hearing this. This makes me so sad. What an adorable dog you have. This just goes to show that a dog can be a mans best friend. Keep fighting for him brother, don’t give up! You’re awesome for this. I truly hope that he recovers and he becomes healthy again. Keep your head up 
I am sorry to have learned this. Hopefully everything will turn out in your favor. Such a beautiful Sheppard, these are one of my favorite breeds. Grew up with one at my grandmothers. His name was Caesar.
I’m so sorry brother. I know the bond you create with a dog and they truly become like family. Thor is a fighter and won’t go down without swinging. I hear you, I lost my beloved cat in november 2016 so I had to take care of his kidney disease since september when it started to degenerate, and the year before I’d lost my mother in law, I’m definitely not going through enjoyable Halloweens in these last few years, there’s nothing much to say, be strong and do whatever is possible to save your dog, I’m with you.
