I don’t beliebe the Hero was rehaired at all. The black spray may have worn off and you were seeing the beige colored crepe hair…
The H4 was not a Kirk at all I do not believe. I don’t think it had Kirk origins. It may have been based off of a Kirk though, but it was not a '75 Kirk to begin with.
I think if they needed to rehair the Hero for H1/H2 they would’ve just haired it black to begin with.
The hair line from H1 to H2 doesn’t change so it’s obviously a nobrainer that it was never touched.
The people on the set of H4 said the mask in the school scene had white hair. This can also be heard in the commentary track of the DVD.
Sam McCain checked Paul’s screen used and stated the hair was originally white.
The h4 mask I believe was a cast of someones face then retooled. It doesn’t look like it has any kirk origins, I would love to see what the ears look like on the original.
the makers of h4 were huge halloween fans. . and like my self. . love the look of a kirk myers. . . the shot the firm originally with the idea of using this lifecast mask made to look like a kirk. . . but the studios opted to go with classic myers. . .
they painted it white but kept kirk features. . im thinking as a way of meeting half way. . .this way its kirk like but white. . .
eventually they cut he eyes. . . but kept the sideburns. . .
I have seen some ultra rare pics and videos of a pull from the H4 mold. . . and it definatelly doesnt look like a recasted kirk. . . .
look at the drug store kirk eyes mask. . . those are not sculpted kirk eyes. . . they are diamonds cut out of the CLOSED EYES of a lifecast. . . .
I dug up an old issue of “Gorezone” magazine from 1988 which has a feature on Halloween 4. In the article they interview Kenneth Horn who was the F/X supervisor & he mentions the Myers mask.
The article reads:
The care and feeding of The Shape mask proved the major challenge. “We did not have the time to go into the lab and make one,” he laments. “Fortunately, the company had one of the masks from Halloween II. I was able to make some adjustments on it and a handful of rubber back-ups to fit the actor playing Michael.”
“In fact,” continues Horn, “the biggest improv job I’ve had on this film had to do with the mask. The producers decided they wanted the masks changed from flesh color to white. Well, we did not have have the paint designed specifically for use with rubber, and we needed something that would stretch with the movement of the mask. Fortunately, we found a liquidtex paint that would stretch, but I’ve had to retouch the masks on a daily basis to keep up with the tearing and breaks. With more time, we could have made things much easier.”
I hope this info helps anyone. It’s a really good issue that has a fold-out four page close-up shot of Michael Myers still attached in the magazine.
billy had actually said a while ago he was working on a FULL back story as to where the h4 originated from. I hadnt seen anything about it since then, though…
