I created an original scene for H2 with deleted footage

I decided to put together some footage from the deleted scenes to create an exclusive transition scene for Halloween II. I took some footage of Annie and montaged them into the shots where Michael visits the family grave. By adding Music (The John 5 “Lauries Theme” which was sadly not used in the final cut) and various sound effects I created something that is now part of my fan edit and adds a little bit more mood to the film.
The scene plays like this…

Annie is clearly upset after her fight with Laurie so enters the kitchen to calm down. Meanwhile Michael is somewhere else in Haddonfield visiting the family grave. While Annie is still upset about the argument and is waiting for the kettle to boil, Laurie is upstairs watching TV and brooding about what happened with her and Annie. Annie finally breaks down in one quick shot and at the tombstone Michael tells his mother he came to the grave because he misses her…
The quality of this clip isn’t great as it’s a quick upload to give you an idea but the original is DVD quality… I start the clip with Laurie and Annie fighting to give you the idea of where the clip goes.

Enjoy.

Hey man I really like how this turned out, the use of the Lauries Theme works very well here. I liked it alot.

That worked really well, thanks man, I enjoyed it.

Nice work.

Thanks guys. I really wanted to incorporate the footage of the graveyard scene into my fan edit as it’s very atmospheric but I wanted to place it someplace else because I felt where it took place in the original scene only distracted from what Loomis was saying on the TV where he hints that he will disclose the secret that Himself and Brackett share in his book.

Then I thought about a transition scene that I could place right after the Annie/Laurie fight scene and before the rabbit in red massacre using some footage from Annies deleted scenes with Darren and dressing the shots up with sound effects and music to make them look like Annie has just come from a big emotional fight. I Cut these selected shots into the grave scene, added a couple of shots of Laurie watching the TV (These were only used in the theatrical cut so fit into my fan edit perfectly which uses the DC as it’s base) and used the John 5 “Lauries theme” which was sadly not used in either of Zombie’s official cuts. It all just seemed to come together very quickly.

Thanks again for the kind comments. Much appreciated.

duuuude…this made me feel sooooo bad for michael when hes at the grave…you may not know it or it might of been intentional but dude…that is the one time in my whole life right there where i REALLY felt where michael was coming from an it kinda saddend me…i really wouldnt wanna live like that…that scene you just created man…is powerful.

Yes!! Thank you. This is what I wanted to do… I felt the graveyard scene had a lot of potential in conveying emotion and if cut and scored the right way I thought it could evoke sadness… and I’m so glad that you got it.

Thanks again.

no problem man that shit struck me…for real…it felt real it was like you could feel michael about to burst out right there either crying or flipping…the frustration you could cut with a knife man…

and the laurie an annie shit sent chills down my spine…cause whats the first thing you do when you get into a serious fight with a buddy? storm out of the room and usually just dont leave jus go in another room…and you could feel they both didnt wanna battle like they do…its just…michael myers really fucked them up…an they dont know how to get over that except by taking it out on each other…wow man if this is how your whole edit is me an you will be doing business my friend lol

EXCELLENT man A+

Wow… Thanks again for the strong words.

I guess this scene just came to me when I was looking to incorporate that graveyard scene into my edit to make it more powerful. Then I saw the potential with the footage left over of Annie with Darren and the footage from the TC of Laurie watching the TV.

I wanted to convey in a short moment all three characters doing different things in the same time frame so when you watch the film as a whole you will see that regardless of their diverse actions within that single moment, all three inevitably head down the same path later to meet in tragedy.

It’s weird how a little scene like this can change the mood of a movie. Laurie now sits alone in her room brooding, we see she is her own worse enemy, Annie is the casualty of all of this and Michael is a sad and lonely figure looking for some kind of affection in a world that doesn’t understand him.

Glad you liked it and it grabbed you.

Dude! Hell yeah!

That was awesome, alot more sympathy. Perfect cuts between Laurie and Michael…creepy but also very sympathetic. Bravo!

will you be including this scene into one of your cuts?

Very good job man.

Thanks again guys.

Yes Truehorror I am just finishing up an edit of the movie and this will be the final cut of my fan-edit with this scene included.
