It says on the tombstone “Our Beloved Daughter Judith Myers”
Ah ok, I see what you mean now. And yes, this would make Michael her brother. This is a great thread btw, love it.

There was no question about Judith being a Myers. The question is whether Michael is a Myers, or at least if the film implies that he is. As said earlier, he easily could have visited Judith’s house if she was his babysitter.

Again, it can be Judith’s or the Myers’ house without being Michael’s house.
I do think they made a deliberate point not to reveal Michael’s last name in the film, regardless of his relation to Judith. This thread is giving me a new appreciation for the original film’s ambiguity. Great thread, deserves more attention.
After all these years of watching this classic, I never realised that the Shape was never referred to as Michael Myers. Makes it’s so much better now as a stand alone movie imo.
EDIT: I missed the last couple of posts and didn’t see that what I had to add had already been stated!
So I’ll just add that I’m happy folks are enjoying this thread. I’m loving the conversation!
Watched the movie again this morning, and there is no reference that indicates that Michael is a Myers. I’m still in shock that after all these years I never picked up on this.
I don’t know if this is true, but according to two articles cited on The Shape’s Wikipedia page, he was named after Michael Myers, the former head of Miracle Films. This was allegedly done in honour of his company distributing Assault on Precinct 13 in England in 1977 after he met Irwin Yablans. This would mean that, while it is neither spoken nor written anywhere in the film, the name Michael Myers is what the filmmakers had in mind.
The implication is extremely strong he killed his sister. Who knows why it didn’t say Myers after his name and age in the credits. Hell they couldn’t even get his age right. He was 21 in 1978 if he was 6 in 1963 and the credits say he was 23. ![]()
