Is this the one that is said to be the “ultimate” transfer?
I believe the ultimate Dean Cundey approved picture is the limited edition 2-disk DVD that is long out of print.
Yes that should be it - unless Im wrong that is the same transfer as the limited edition 2 disc set. As far as I know its the same but the much rarer 2 disc set has extras and the TV cut scenes etc available.
I used to have this one but I cant find it anywhere now.
I just may have to begin my quest for the 1999 2-disc set then…
Yeah Ive been wanting it to. Anyone have a pic of the actual 1999 2 disc cover.
The 1999 two-disc limited edition and regular edition are identical. The only difference is the second disc contains the TV scenes inserted into theatrical version.
The case has the same cover picture except it says “Limited Edition” across the top. The case is an extra-wide case and the back cover art is slightly different and has a limited addition number.
If you have the current standard version and the TV version, you have all of the content that the “limited Edition” has.
I wish they had released the true, full-screen TV version as it was shown on NBC instead of just adding the TV scenes to the theatrical version.
I have the 2-disc set and will upload pics of the cover and inserts in a few minutes as well as list what is on the discs!
This set has more than just the current standard version.
These versions have tons of more stills/pics from the Kirkus collection compared to the divimax release.
**The two disc limited edition set is easily my favorite edition of Halloween to date even though the Blu Ray is without question the sharpest and most amazing in terms of sharpness. Even with the power of Blu Ray you can’t beat this one because of it being as close as you can get to what the movie looked and sounded like in theaters during 1978.
For those of you who don’t know this film was fully restored by Adam Adams (Terminator 2, Titanic) under the supervision of Lucasfilm’s THX from a (then) new 35mm interpositive which was made from the original camera’s negative! Dean Cundey himself approved and favors this transfer. Chace Productions and Alan Howarth created the Dolby 5.1 soundtrack by using the (then) newly discovered original 35mm magnetic dialogue & effects tracks and the original 16-track music studio master. The result is seeing and hearing Halloween as those in the theatres during 1978 experienced it.
This set includes the following:
\
- A wide screen presentation of the film.
- A full-frame presentation.
- Television Version wide screen presentation of Halloween.
- Original Theatrical Trailers
- TV Spots
- Radio Spots
- Talent Bios
- Still & Photo Gallery
- Behind the Scenes Still Gallery
- Halloween Unmasked 2000
- 5 x 7 Post Card
- Theatrical Cut Menu Card
- Television Cut Menu Card
Here are pics of the cards, cover and discs:**
AWESOME!
I have the divimax 2 disc release from 2003. Im assuming the 99 release is the best and the 2003 is not dean cundey approved right.
