Jamie Lee Anti-Halloween and Holiday...YUP!

http://www.pretty-scary.net/content/jamie-lee-curtis-and-moms-everywhere-think-halloween-too-scary-kids-shes-wrong

Shit in New York last Halloween I saw a dozen little Jason’s and Freddy’s not much Leather face’s or Michael’s  Great article and I understand where she is coming from but you just have to let the kids know it’s just a movie! I admit it my son started out very young watching horror films and he isn’t fucked up!

What a Heap of crap That suck Laurie strodes anti Halloween its a shame  :unamused:
It seems That Halloween’s for five year olds who don’t want to dress scary all the sudden Like that’ll ever happen :unamused: :frowning:

Though that fairy costume is growing on me
Plus on the other hand she does have a point why waste 19.00 On that garbage when there’s real ones out there. :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

what she doesn’t seem to realize is that for the most part, people do commit murders had deeper reasons than “it was in a movie”. Of course, their MO may be influenced by the movie, but by then we’re talking the degree of mutilation.

Exactly, it’s all in the parenting. Parents these days seem to not do their job. That’s probably why 9/10 of the girls I graduated high school with (3 years ago) are pregnant or already have kids.

“Movies don’t create psychos, movies make psychos more creative.”
 I’m sorry but I just love that line. And it’s pretty much true. The people are already crazy, they just use the movie as a spark, possibly, as a subtle “inspiration”.

I have a 9 year old daughter that loves Myers and Freddy and Jason and Chucky and she never to my knowledge had a nightmare because of it. Not one. Never. I also have a 5 year old son that is sheltered by my wife and everything scares this child. And I mean everything!!! Horror films make children face their fears and get over them. Sheltering your children leads to them having a sheltered mind.

Sigh…could of gone the rest of my life without reading that. lol That sucks.

I can’t believe such a wholesome preaching mom would use the word “prick” in text.

Upon further thought, I am convinced that these types of people must of been the recipients of the “Tricks” on Halloween.
Now I know what I created with the pumpkin smashing, TPing of homes, and of course egging. They all deserve a little knock on the door with a flaming bag of dog poop left for them. Happy Halloween Nerds!

I don’t agree with all her points but I understand that she doesn’t like violence and gore(she never has) and while she has said that she is very proud of Halloween she has also said that she’s not a fan of horror movies in general. She always attends a Halloween Party for Child Affected by AIDS in full costume so I don’t think she against the holiday, I think she’s just against the violence and gore and scarier things that can come with it. Personally, when I have kids, I’ll expose them to horror and let them be whatever they want on Halloween  . She not banning her children from Halloween, I think she’s just trying to tone it down for them.

news flash!!! this just in!!! breaking news!!!

there were murders, rapes, wars, prostitution, drugs, crime and many other things before there were movies and video games even though the media and the movies stars who profit off those movies would have you believe otherwise… hypocrites…

Agreed! I also hate when I see parents(Mine never did! ) tell their kids that Halloween in a night of Satan, that there’s not a rich, complex, fasinating history and that it is a fairly new holiday invented by Candy Companies(I actually saw this and I tried explaining Halloween to them and they were shock that there was so much more to Halloween)!! :imp:

I think Jamie Lee doing Activia commercials is scary and wrong. Oh, Jamie, your husband is so creative, why can’t you be? What happened?

That doesn’t surprise at all, she has that opinion cuz shes older now, with age comes diff views & opinions. Anyone here in their 30’s or older can almost testify that they think a little differently now, than they did when they were 20 or so, I know I do. So I think age is just getting the best of her.

But not for me…

yes it seems the ole gal has been transplanted over the years and wants no part of her roots.
in my opinion she is the one in a crazy mind set. for her to say she hopes school is where children “will learn truth and consequences” to me is just rediculose. grade school is where children learn social skills that cant be taught and basic acedimics.
but teaching “truth and consequences” of life is primarily a parents duty. perhaps Jamie Lee Curtis should reevaluate her own parenting skills before she “snaps” at parents whom let their kids watch horror films.
a fake spider around Halloween too scary? :unamused: i believe that deffinitely classifies as over protective.

I kinda wish I had never read that to be honest!

IMO she has a point, halloween has been more about gore nowadays than just dressing up and getting candy, I mean I dont agree that kids shouldnt watch horror movies, start them young, not too young though, and they wont be scared.

My mother started me out with chucky and halloween and explained there just like my mother and father, they have a job and they go home to their family every night, there just make believe stories. I mean I cant really explain the fasination with the halloween series, it might have something to do with the blank mask, and not knowing what hes thinking, but thats another thread. We all need to understand, you parent your kids, that dont mean you have to parent others kids, When my kids come, there first word after mommy or daddy with be michael or myers lol, I mean I think they need to no about it.

Let’s say supposedly that I took my daughter/son to meet Jamie Lee at a child’s book signing and brought all of her books to sign plus 1 picture of 3 girls sitting around; Annie, Linda and Laurie. (No artwork, no DVD cover, nothing that say’s Halloween.) Don’t you think Jamie would at least have the courtesy to sign a picture along with all of those books; I mean come on, we bought the books, my child wanted to meet her and I took the time to drive them down.

Well it happened…my friend did it! He put a picture of the girls of Halloween in a child’s book, got it by the screener (WHO WAS A BITCH!) and had Jamie Lee sign 4 books and inside the last book was the picture, after signing the book, he turned to the middle of the book was the picture, she got frazzled for a sec but saw that the 2 other girls signed it and did the same. Nothing more, nothing less.

Now, before all of that…Jamie Lee made it VERY clear she was there for the kids and if any “Halloween” fans (LOTS of people wearing Halloween t-shirts, Goth Clothes etc… carrying posters, toys you name it.) wanted to meet her this was NOT the time or place. Needless to say, a quarter of the crowd left. I completely understand her point, not the time or place but it’s NOT like she goes out and does signings on “Halloween” all the time, actually never in the middle part of America.

Jamie Lee needs to understand that a LOT of the parents she’s meeting today grew up with her and now Jamie’s meeting their children. Jamie Lee needs to embrace her past; she made the choices and got her rise to fame from those choices. Jamie Lee often talks about the characters she played in the horror movies in interviews…she say’s her characters were “forthright, just and were strong female roles”. Geeee, for an actor just beginning in movies you couldn’t ask for a better role.

Embrace horror, Jamie! Your entire movie career started because of it.

Ahhh pay no attention to this guys. This is what happens when you get older, seriously. You just start seeing things different & this is the way she see’s this. Is it right?? Not at all but it’s right with her. Maybe she grew tired of people that are not the sharpest tool in the shed running up yelling
“Laurie, your still alive!!”

She’s getting a little snarky in her old age but what are ya going to do, but she was not saying any of this in her prime…Same with John Carpenter. I once read in a very tasty fortune cookie… “With age come great grumpy-ness”

Well put, Billy! I have one of her signed books (Is There Really a Human Race? just so I could have her autograph. I didn’t meet her, I live in Arkansas, the heartland, and while people may not believe it, we do read down here and would love to get a chance to have book signings. I don’t know why she can’t understand that some people love her character even more than Michael Myers and would like to have something to commemorate that. She is the heroine of Halloween and Laurie Strode is a great character. I guess she doesn’t think about what impact she might have had on young girls who also liked to read and weren’t that popular with the boys… :unamused:

ya i think its probably an age thing too. now that she is older she doesn’t want to be a part of horror and i bet when she was younger she didn’t want a part in poop commercials either. things change
young :axe:
old :butthead:

It just makes me like her less and less every time I hear her open her mouth. I am so sick of her and her complaints about Halloween and he gore myself as it is the first thing you see in the news or some other violent crime, The newspaper has some kind of violent act on the front page most of the time and yet Halloween a one time a year thing is what makes killers and all the violence in the world the way she talks. I bet her showing her tits in Trading Places or Blue Steel was wholesome family values also. It amazes me what b/s this woman can sling. I know many will disagree and that is fine but get a clue Jamie you got your big break thanks to horror and gore and if more parents would teach their kids something instead of just shoving them in front of a tv then maybe some of the violence might stop but as long as people are alive there will be gore and all the stuff you don’t want to be apart of anymore.
