Jay’s been well taken care of. Trust me. As far as what people have said about Terry in the past in terms of the kind of person he REALLY is, let’s just say that the majority of crap that Terry did was with other mask makers, and took place behind closed doors. It started with MMP, went on to Nightowl, and then SSN. All these guys new what kind of person Terry really was, after they found out what he had done.

Vader if you knew Jay 10 plus years and knew how big of a scumbag Terry was at CGP all along. Why did you let Jay send his 75 Kirk to Terry in the first place ?

Again, I didn’t know Jay was sending his Kirk to anyone. I know Jay from here, online. We didn’t talk all the time. Yet, I know him well enough to call him a friend, or someone you can trust when it comes to this hobby. Jay very rarely came around here. He rarely posted anywhere, to tell ya the truth. He was more of a lurker then a poster.

I was speaking to someone earlier and they said “I mean why Jay Allan? He’s probably the most wholesome person whose ever been a part of this community.” I wholeheartedly agree.

Jay when you and I discussed sending the 75 to anyone for a restore, repaint, etc. we always came to the conslusion of “…can’t send it to anyone or it’ll get recasted.” Neither of us ever dreamed it would disapear altogether.

I just got done speaking to Jay and while I’m not glad how this worked out I am glad that he got what he did. Nice guys finish FIRST. The last person known to have had the Kirk has problems ahead for them. Faith in the system wins every time. Good work, Jay!

I’m so glad to hear that you were compensated Jay! I know your holy grail is gone… but at least you’re not out completely and your kids can get a good education now. That’s one of the best gifts you can give.

This whole fiasco is a true shame and yes I do believe in karma.

Honestly, I know NOTHING about making masks, but I have several close friends that make their living off of it. I was discussing the where-a-bouts of Jay’s mask with one yesterday & I will add his reply here, but not his name. If he wishes to share anything further, he can join & add his name to the mix. Actually, I’ve spoken to two mask makers & both have determined the mask had the same fate. I’m thinking the mask was destroyed & when I churned over what they said about it for awhile, it made sense. Here’s the first friend’s outlook:

I just read that whole thread, it makes more sense to me now.
Terry had this planned all along. An old Don Post mask from 1975 can’t be preserved. Latex is a natural substance and breaks down through time, it’s just a fact of life. Thats like taking a semi rotted corpse and saying I can restore it to it’s original state.
It can only be preserved from here on out.
Okay, in all of my twenty years of mask making experience, and twelve years of law enforcement experience, this is what happened.
Terry did not intend to steal it, but he did want to recast it, that is make a mold of it so he could sell copies as an original sculpt that he made.
After he applied the plaster and completed the mold, he had to remove the original mask from the mold. Latex sticks to plaster and has to be peeled away from the inside of the mold. No problem when it’s fresh latex right, but old ass rotted latex from 1975 is going to do what?
That’s right, it’s going to rip during removal. I’m sure Terry accidently ripped it to shreds trying to remove it from the mold.
Terry most likely was in the hospital from a friggin heart attack!!!LOL
You see, that’s why I have avoided doing a myers mask, ever, because there are HUNDREDS of them out there, and people are so fanatical about them that it’s getting funny.
So it was greed that caused this, he would have had a mold of an actual 75 kirk, the exact, and perfect myers mask. He could have sold copies for several hundred dollars.
This is why greed is one of the seven deadly sins.

Does this make sense to any mask makers out there? It seemed like the logical explaination to me because what could be done with the mask Jay had? Everyone in the world of Myers masks would have known who’s mask it was if Terry tried to sell it. Of course, he could have sold it under-handed, but he would have wanted the mold of it to sell copies. Either way, I feel it would have stuck to the mold & would have been pulled apart according to the ones I talked to. Could this be where where Jay’s Kirk went? In the trash?

I don’t think that’s very likely. Anybody who had the original in their posession through what ever means, I don’t believe would risk destroying what is obviously worth more then whatever a recast would get them.

Anyone that knows what they are doing would use silicone instead of plaster to make the mold because it won’t stick to the latex. It is a possible that this is what happened though.

it’s just sickening all around. Im willing to bet the mask is in somebody’s posession but has been sat on until said person in posession of the mask can find a way to get it off their hands without raising suspicion, but tthere is to much heat on the situation so the mask is tucked away somewhere.

Looking at what the item that was sent in the place of the original shatner seems like an ultimate greedy and desperate act, like said person was salivating over it and were not willing to let it slip away by any means so that piece of garbage was sent in it’s place. Dispicable, straight up theivery

As far as I know, silicone only sticks to silicone.
