Did anyone else think Halloween 2018 could have used a better final chase scene?
I think the opening of the movie and the middle of the movie was so rock solid that there was little time left for a drawn out final chase scene. It is what I think was missing in this movie.
However, there were so many things in this movie that really made me gleeful that I think this is but a minor flaw.
I think they just wanted to show that Michael doesn’t want to mess around. People knew the bus crashed and he was missing so they would be out looking for him. He was taken much more seriously as a threat this time around than he did in 78. That’s why I think a sequel will open the doors for him to be more like the shape in the shadows because people will assume he burned up in the fire
Yeah, I totally agree. I think also because Laurie is such a strong adversary, she wouldn’t be running so much and thus no chase scene. She out-smarted him and went after him full force. That doesn’t take as long to do, haha.
the obvious daytime murders that where discovered and the awareness that Michael was on the loose long before night fall is one of several negatives in the new installment being the movie is portrayed in present time. sheriff Barker (Omar Dorsey) asked in the film, “what are we going to do cancel Halloween”?
thats exactly what would happen in a small town under those circumstances in 2018. the town would be packed with county/state police ordering all citizens to stay indoors. i plan on watching the movie again before i post or vent a detailed review but my concern over the quick filming time seems to be warranted. on first watch i give the movie a generous 6.5/10
we still got the girl (granddaughter) running away and banging on doors crying for help.
Laurie wasn’t going to run because the entire premise of her plan was luring him into the house. The entire house was set up to be a big trap.
One of the coolest parts I don’t see anyone mention is that The Entire House was a giant mousetrap. She literally has been sitting there and waiting for him for decades.
The only thing I didn’t like about the movie was the Texas Chainsaw Massacre ending. Jump in the truck and roll credits.
No aftermath, no epilogue, just ‘house burning roll credits.’,…it was too abrupt.
I thought the movie was great. We are talking about the Slasher Genre here, it’s really not known for technically “good” filmmaking,…we’re lucky if we get a decent and fun movie, which this one is.
People got way too hyped up expecting this movie to somehow surpass the original or something, which is impossible. If you ignore the hype and just look at the movie for what it is in the genre it is (Slasher),…and realize that the HalloweeN franchise is still breaking new ground (what movie brings back original actors 40 years later for a sequel?) …then it’s still a great HalloweeN movie.
Been very surprised over all the negativity I’ve seen online over this movie. I’m not sure what people were honestly expecting that they feel so let down and angry over it.
Mask looked cool, Michael was cool, the story didn’t suck, and it was well shot and well lit and had a cool soundtrack. That’s really about all you can hope for.
I will say this, I noticed that some of the usual horror tropes pulled a 180 in an attempt to change things up. Such for example when Allyson is running and knocking on doors. Originally in horror, no one will answer the doors, except this time someone answers and let’s her right in. Little subtle things like that to change up the tropes. I loved it personally.
