Myers H1 mask ?

Not sure if this has been asked here, but what pigment of white do you think was used on the first myers mask?

Spray paint which is a no no and they say fish belly white? Just find the shade of white latex pigment u like. When I use the word Fish Belly on my masks it,s just a catchy word it don’t mean shit since it,s anybody,s guess what it was but i,m happy with the shades we’re all getting. Also if u get any negative response from this question the members are just tired and don’t mean any harm

Tommy Lee Wallace used to refer to it as “appliance white” until recently when he started calling it “fish belly white”. However, he’s always said it was can spray paint.

You guys on here are very informative. I’m finding out things that I did not know.

I think the people that comprise this board are super informative. I love reading through all the posts.

Hey I like to learn all that I can.
Tom:)

I always wondered if the flesh tones are added after the white was sprayed or the white was painted around a flesh tone base

Nothing was painted on the mask aside from white. The Kirk colored flesh paint under the white came out when the white rubbed off. Any dark details are flesh and dirt marks on the mask from use. They’ve said several times the mask(s) were not treated with much care so the spray paint wore off on many areas of the mask. I imagine it was possibly resprayed if any wear became too much during filming.

Yea I understand that. I was asking about the replicas, I wondered if they painted the flesh tones on or if the white was painted around it

I can’t speak for other artists but my fleshtones are painted on before i apply my top coat white :bulb:
I blend my whites into the fleshtones and to how i want them, be it more flesh exposed or less, depends how i feel on the day.
unless i’m doing an H2 then plenty flesh is a given.

I thought they used face paint to touch up areas as well…

Pure poetry right there…

I heard TLW would shout at Castle when he would scrunch the mask up and put it in his pocket after a scene lol, he got tired of having to touch the mask up between scenes.

 If they only had known…

i actually remember when fish belly white was in production… i compared it when i tried to match up a color …it was very slightly darker than pure white…maybe with a slight tinge of blue. Thats how i mix the paint for my masks
