NAG Shape 78 overhaul...

I know you have one man, and yours looks great as well, as I’ve said in some of your threads on it. Totally did not intend to send you into defense mode over it, I still love the mask regardless of my minor criticisms. I love all the looks of all the masks out there.

I think the main thing that I see that sticks out with these is the narrow jaw. It does not make or break the mask for me at all, I just prefer the wider jaw, only for my own head shape. It has nothing to do with how it looks on others or the mask itself. It’s coming from how it would look on me personally. And of course proper weathering goes a long way.

Not like Mike’s from WeWatchedaMovie, have you seen that one? The weathering is just way too over the top for me on that one. Not sure what NAG that is, but I know it’s a NAG of some form or fashion. That is a prime example of way too over the top weathering. Some folks love that, I am not one of those folks. But I certainly don’t knock them for what they like. It’s all subjective art at the end of the day anyway.

not into defensive at all, just trying to be informative, many people here think the Castle 75 is a superior mask for no real valid reason, they are almost identical if they’re finished by the big artists, and the Shape78 even looks better if you’re looking for a large size straight from Nikos, so unless you need a small size the Shape 78 is definitely a model you should take in consideration, I picked one cause I needed a large size and really liked how Nikos finished this particular sculpt over his Castle 75s, and I think he really did a great job on mine as you can see, and even the new PS78 that you guys seem to love so much is basically stretched Shape 78, so if something seems off from the pictures (mine included) it’s not the sculpt but most likely something else. Said that I really have no interest to rope people into buying a Shape 78, actually the less copies are around the best for me, I’ll be happy to be one of the few owner of this sculpt and not wearing an ultra inflated mask

Dude that photo where your standing next to the girl in the top hat, that looks awesome right there! And I will have to consider a Shape 78 down the road, I already have a Castle 75k SE coming in the mail this week, so that’s my big purchase for the year. You definitely helped me see what the deal is here with the Shape 78, and like I said, that second photo down looks awesome! The light is hitting you just right in that one!

Oh and I am not actually one of the PS78 lovers. I think it’s cool, but I would rather have something a little more subtle with the stretch. This Shape 78 and Castle 75k are more subtle in that regard. But hey, the PS78 is a dream mask for some folks out there, so I won’t be one to take that from them, it’s just not something I would drop $600 on. That’s only due to my personal tastes, not that it’s a bad mask at all.

I have to say most of the pictures I’ve posted here are crap, most of them are selfies or taken with a cheap phone, the one you like was taken by a professional photographer and it makes a big difference, anyway mine is straight from Nikos, not a big fan of the hair cause they remained pretty blonde despite my request to spray it darker (he must’ve forgotten) and texture seems thinner than the original or the ones used by JC, but I can’t really complain about the finish considering how washed out his finished masks normally look. Anyway did you stand the chance to see Slazobob’s post with the Castle and the Shape 78 finished by Freddy side by side? those pictures pretty much show the slight differences between the 2 sculpts, and is a big reference to understand which of them will work best for you, personally I think the narrow jawline gives you an easier time to pull off the Castle stretch, but if you have a small head and wear a 23-24 size you’re fine with the Castle 75 as Jay Caleb and many others showed us, if you have a big head like mine possibly the narrow jawline of the Shape 78 helps with the H1 look, a 24,5 or even a 25 Castle 75 might give you a more rounded shape more akin the H2 look, my humble insight.

Great pics Kevin. I have to disagree with you though on the Castle being a ultra inflated mask. I believe most owners pics speak for themselves opinions vary of course

Thank you Jay, by inflated I meant that many people owns a copy, based of what I’ve seen it’s the most sold sculpt and possibly the most appreciated

Unfortunately pictures are not very indicative, mine for example don’t give the mask justice most of the times, but the ones taken by photographers at the last con are from another planet compared to the ones I normally shoot.

Even though I obviously own a Shape 78, I would say the Castle 75k is my favorite mask and something I plan on owning in the future. I’m not sure why I didnt order it instead of the Shape 78, but I’m definitely not disappointed with my choice. I think the Shape 78 has a definite thinner, sharper jawline, but I personally think it’s a great look. The two masks that are still being made today that are the best you can get, in my opinion, are the Castle 75k, and either the Creep or Shat. As far as accuracy of the sculpt at least. But there’s a few NAG and NO sculpts that finished by the right artist, are holy grails.
