Not sure. Both latex of Rd-407 and the one Nikos uses are both excellent quality. To tell you the truth, you can only make a mask last a lifetime or forever if you take great extensive care of it, avoid Sunlight, heat, wipe dust off, put it in a glass case like a IKEA Detolf Case, stuff the mask, display it on a stand, and wear it as little as possible, or not even wear it at all. Skin oil is not good for the mask, and it will cause damage if you touch the mask a lot. I recommend wearing gloves to handle masks, and that’s what I do for all my masks. Make sure to store mask in optimal room temperature.
It’s just as bad to have a mask near a hot heating vent in winter as it is to have the mask in a hot room during the summer. You pretty much want to keep the masks cool at all times.
Even an expensive electric bill could be bad or even worse than heat if you have to leave the conditioner turned on all day just for a mask while you spend most of your time at work or out of your place, sorry but the always on conditioner just doesn’t seem the best solution to keep the mask cool during the summer
that’s just the nature of latex. If you want them to last you keep them cool. If you want them to quickly rot, let them get hot continually.
Put a latex mask in the attic and it most likely wont survive a single summer.
I imagine the ideal would be a cool room in a basement. Even in summertime basement rooms are usually cool, and in the winter the heat rises to the top of the house so the basement rooms are still usually cooler than the rest of the house.
I’ve had a cheap 15 bucks latex mask for 10 years by now, always kept in a box and treated it like shit, moved about 6 times with it and it’s still mint, I think people just get too paranoid for the only reason you’re buying a 400 and more mask, I understand care, but really there’s nothing you can do about environmental conditions, clime, seasons etc, some people don’t even have the air conditioner at home for example. Same thing I can say with the rules, don’t touch it, wear it as little as possible or if possible don’t even wear it at all, so at this point don’t even buy it, and you’ll surely won’t ruin it, it’s like buying a Ferrari and keep it forever in a dark and cold garage with the air conditioner on just for the car cause you’re too afraid of damaging it or overheating it.
Honestly I think latex is gonna last, it’s not that delicate, with just a few little rules to follow to preserve its shape and integrity, and should it get any damage after 10 or more years I’ll buy a new one, but at least I can say I bought it for something and used it for a reason, I exploited something I’ve paid for, that’s me.
Keeping masks in a cool area is a must. I had an H78 rot after 3 summers because it was kept at my cousins house way too close to a window. I simply keep them in my closet during the summer and keep a fan on to oscillate the room and keep the temperature controlled. Extreme heat or cold, especially heat, is terrible for latex. Just make sure to keep it regulated and you’re fine
I had a cheap don post and a tots halloween H2 mask close to a window . Within 3 years it turned brittle. Both masks. It was close to a window enough to get a lot of light. I thought the windows are uv protected? Would most masks near a window rot? Does uv light even slightly cause it to rot and harden? It seems as t hough it does…Even after putting 303 on it too mind it still rotted nea rthe window.
I can keep it far from a window, but leaving the AC on all summer long or even a fan just for a mask is just ridiculous, AC and fans will be on sometimes when I’m home and it’s extremely hot, but I’m not gonna keep any electrical device on if I’m going out, so there’s to be another way
