Need help from Myers fans for A&E doc on Halloween (1978)

Have you filmed in South Pasadena? or any of the filming locations?

South Pasadena and Orange Grove Blvd.

Sounds awesome! Don’t forget to get an interview with Busta Rhymes.

A very cool fan hooked me up with beautiful high res stills of the Emmett Kelly mask, and that’s going into the doc. I wonder if anyone has a really high-res shot of the Kirk mask from the magazine ads where the guy is wearing the yellow Kirk shirt with his arms folded. Would love to include it in the doc if you have it, or can scan the magazine page, or point me toward finding the magazine ad somewhere.

Thanks guys!

Hey Phil I will be faxing the form over to your office in 15 min

You’re the man!

Did ya get the fax?

I’m not in the office - I assume it went through fine.

yeap she got it

Thanks again Jon!

Another request! High-res photos of your Halloween tattoos. You’ll have to sign a release form to let us use it. I need you to email me the HUGE files out of your cameras. PM me if you can help. Thanks!

"John instructed me to go out and find something that hopefully was plain and not…didn’t call attention to itself in some strange way. I’m always big on choices. So I asked him if he wanted choices on the mask and he said, ‘well sure, bring me choices.’

"The choices? Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Mister Spock, Captain Kirk - wait a minute. He won by default because he’s the plainest face to work with. And I went on back and started working with it, cut out the eye holes, larger, yanked off the side burns, kind of goofed up the hair and spray painted the whole thing with Krylon appliance paint, fish belly white…maybe colored the hair down too, I cant remember. I believe it was very light hair and I made it browner and darker, less, less attention getting. And Nick Castle was there doing the modeling for us. I picked up a neutral jumpsuit, just a mechanics jump suit. I wanted the rest of the outfit to just fall off and not, just pay no attention whatsoever. I also picked up an Emmett Kelly mask which is the classic sad clown, and he came out in that Emmett Kelly mask and it was unmistakable that the effect was eerie. It was like ‘oohh…happy clown, no way.’ He’s going to kill people so this is ironic and strange.

“But then Nick came out with the Captain Kirk mask and, ‘OH shit!’ It was…it was horrifying, so scary that we immediately knew, if nothing else, our movie was going to work. Maybe nobody’d go see it, but it was going to be scary.”

Big thanks to Maurice for hooking us up with a mask to use in the special! I love this thing.

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: - Is THAT who I think it is, In the bottom Picture?

Wow! Thanks for the teasers, Phil. Look forward to seeing this.

Woahhh! I love the backdrop!

Theres young Michael grown up! This is gonna kick ass, glad to see Nick with a smile on his face.

I had to fight for that backdrop!

I hope you guys like the special. So far on The Inside Story they’ve done Animal House, Caddyshack, Jaws, and Saturday Night Fever. I’m glad they let us tackle Halloween.

Phil,

This is AMAZING! Do you want more pictures of other Halloween the original movie mask’s?

-David

All set, thanks!

So far on The Inside Story they’ve done Animal House, Caddyshack, Jaws, and Saturday Night Fever. I’m glad they let us tackle Halloween.

I love the Biography channel and watch it all the time.
I saw the Caddyshack, Animal House, and Saturday Night Fever specials. They were all awesome! Did you work on those too?
I missed the Jaws special. When did that one air?

I co-wrote the Saturday Night Fever bio, but the others were done elsewhere. Not sure when Jaws aired, sorry!

Jamie’s into collecting a bit as well…
