Maniac for example…what is it in Tots Hospital Mask…eyes are smaller…Forehead is flat…cheeks are not defined like a Maniac…all the little in perfections that are in a Maniac are not present in the Hospital Mask…like i said…for a economy mask i don’t mind it… you can’t go wrong…best store bought masks out there…but there is no comparison with them and the real deal…the heart and soul Justin put into his own masks is missing
The detail is not an issue for evoking a film appearance (can you see every fold in the forehead and eyebrows on screen? No).
The problem is actually the puffiness, most evident around the cheeks/jaw. I don’t know why TOTS masks suffer from this distortion. Are they in fact re-casts of NO pulls, and not straight out of an original mould? Are NOs carefully selected from a batch so that only the best pulls are used? Beats me.
I have a TOTS Elrod, HII & HII Small, and a Kirk soon to follow. My Elrod actually looks quite good after a repaint, rehair and eye cuts. Not bad for a $60 mask + a hundred bucks of materials (that become more cost effective as you convert more masks) and time spent learning how to overhaul. I can get results good enough on a budget to basically completely rule out bothering to sink multiple hundreds on a pro job.
Can’t go wrong for the price man. Hair is better than a lot of copies I’ve seen. Even if you don’t do anything it doesn’t look bad at all. Slight overhaul of shading would just help define details better but good score man!
