I wish Mr. Warlock would sell that pic on his site again ![]()
I remember him selling autographed copies on his site a few years back.
that’s where I remember seeing that photo! I actually have a larger copy saved of it somewhere! ![]()
gotta track it down now lol
The mask looks so rough in that pic (cracked eyes, bent nose, etc), 'cause that pic was taken in 1997 by Dick’s wife, Cathy.
Indeed, he DID sell these at Con’s and on his site until he sold out of them.
It’s a great pic, showing how the mask looked after 16-17 years. When I saw it back in '02, 5 years had gone by, and it looked a little worse, unfortunately. There were more cracks around the eyes, and a section of the neck (where the sewing needle went in), was actually not attatched anymore.

Great info Andrew, thanks for sharing man!
I’ve always wondered the age of that pic but never thought about asking Dick. First time I saw it was around 1999 or so and assumed it to be older.
Don’t say I don’t do anything for ya! The picture states 1997.
(The pic was copied on to really bad paper and the process “Halftone” was used–little dots connected together made the picture, much like newspaper prints, I had to clean it alot; I didn’t get everything. I did my best and re-enhanced the lighting too.)
Happy Christmas! (Now, go buy a “Hell” from Sam and I.

I kinda hate to bring this up as the last time I did I got shunned:) However Someone should ask Dick if he remembers during the shooting of the blood tears scene if there was a stunt mask used for a few takes. Primarily the close-ups. I have researched ALL the pics, and I have tried to see the HERO in those takes, and I just can’t see it. In fact to me it doesn’t even look close to the HERO. What I see is a completely different mask with a completely different conversion. I have been told it was the HERO by quite a few people who I would normally trust. However I guess when it comes to the blood tears scene I am the lone voice in the wilderness. we disagree:)

No,it was a stunt mask in the early part of the blood tears scene, note the pattern of the tears
also the eyecuts are totally different as is the hair.

_Back in October of last year I met up with Dick. I brought my KHSLE along to have him sign it for me and to my surprise he tried the mask on. What amazed me was that his eyelids did the same EXACT thing as the pic posted by Billy, meaning the mask fit him very similar.
I wish I had known he was going to do this and I would have taken pics!!!
I won’t make the same mistake next time I visit with him.

What happened to all of the grey smudges on the mask like on the mouth, nose and forehead? The latex of the mask looks rough but none of the smudges are there. Did they clean it off?
Thanks for the pic bro!
Have to disagree with Ant, The Hero mask was used for ALL the blood tears scene. (In the posted pictures above, I see the hairline, eyes and weathering all match up)
They would of cleaned the blood off and reapplied it between takes.
The mark on the forehead is the same 2 me and a latex flaw on the neck but who knows. Also the mask would have been handled a bunch through these takes and cleaned each take which explains the hair differences. Just a quick guess from what I see.
