Been doing some detective work. Ignoring the ‘homage’ to the Alien movie poster, which was released in May ‘79, the alien uses a ‘Simon’ electronic game as a prop to teleport Kirk. Simon was launched at Studio 54 on May 15th 1978. No idea when it hit stores, but assume the earliest it could have been was June ‘78.

Nice. You know, this makes me wonder, if anyone who happened to own a Don Post 1975 Captain Kirk mask went to go see Halloween in 1978, saw the mask, and thought to themselves, “Gee, that looks pretty similar to my Captain Kirk mask”, and went home afterwards to convert it. Just an interesting thought I had, though it’s unlikely I would say 
This home video definitely has a eerie vibe to it I’m waiting for Bughuul to be standing somewhere glaring at the camera. Haha
