I’m wondering if I’m the only one here who puts himself in severe financial trouble to collect the things that I love. I collect horror stuff, mostly 12" figures, and am just getting into costumes and masks. I’m obsessed. I must check this site 100X a day, at home or out on my iPhone. It is almost a disease. Am I nuts or is anyone else like this? Ease my mind…

I have had this disease since the day I saw my very first “High quality” mask. I stumbled onto the Nightowl website and saw the “Vengeance”
In my opinion the feeling was no different than falling in love with a beautiful woman. I now have the Latex sickness for which there is no cure. And im fine with that. I NEVER put myself into financial trouble to collect so I choose to create them to get my fix. I havent bought a piece for myself in over a year.
This hobby is on my mind constantly! 
From the moment when I wake up in the morning to when my head hits the pillow at night.
I keep thinking what will be my next purchase? when will I purchase it? and how will I display it? this has been the most expensive hobby I’ve had in my life and that doesn’t bother me one bit.
The thing is we don’t know what will happen to us tomorow, so who gives a crap how much money we spend on masks, if they make us happy and give us that rush of excitment I’ve got no probs with it 
Money comes and goes in our lives all the time, if you got the money for somthing you want, don’t think twice…get on paypal and spend it! 
You can’t be as bad as me…sometimes I sit here refreshing the page waiting for something cool or a pm 
i once was pretty bad at spending way to much of my hard earned money on masks. That changed once i moved out and got own place. Not to mention a truck payment to deal with so i really cant buy new masks anymore. if i do buy a mask, i tend to buy stuff from people like tommy since his prices are fair, and his work is still top notch.
I am horrible and completely obsessed.Thanks for this thread…it gives me this opportunity to vent!!!
My wife is in awe in how I went from buying one mask,and then it was going to only be one good H1,one good H2,and one good Rob Zombie mask.I now have almost 40 masks and I am not bashful to admit it has put me in hot water financially.I am not happy about it,but I am certainly proud of my collection.
I love this hobby beyond belief and just hope I can get a handle on the finances and stop being completely impulsive

SACRIFICING MONEY! Ain’t the word. Besides being Obsessed with collecting Myers Masks, I also do a huge Halloween display at my house every year. Talk about BIG BUCKS! I just spent over three grand for a new Pneumatic prop for this year. What sucks is you’ll shell out about 300-400 for a mask you’ve been looking for, be Happy for about a week, then another one appears that you been looking for and its, “I Gotta have it!!” So keep an eye on the classifieds, one of my kids has got to go!!!
If someone is declaring bankrupcy, or close to it, because of this hobby, well, I mean this in the nicest way, they seriously need help.
I love this hobby to death but there are waaay more important things that come before this. My family, my kids education, my retirement, my home just to name a few. This should be secondary to the more important things in life. If someone have put themselves in financial stress, because of this hobby, then they should seriously seek help. I mean that again, in the nicest way…
This hobby can be addicting but like anything, theres always a line, that shouldn’t be crossed. If I couldn’t save money for my retirement, or my family’s future because of this hobby, I would be the first to leave it, as much as I love it!

It is definitely a disease, I too refresh the page and just go into topic after topic when I have time on my hands, which is usually all the time! When I die i will be buried with my favorite mask. No joke. But I would never put myself in a financial mess, when have no money at $0 I know I have to sell one mask. I never like to be broke.
Well… Um… How do I defend declaring bankruptcy to collect stuff? I don’t think I can. That’s kind of why I created the topic. And where would someone like me go to get help? I do have a daughter, who is 5, and another baby on the way, due in October (just in time for Halloween!). I also have a mortgage.

!!! I sit on this site at work and at home. I am so infected with this disease. I check Ebay every 10 min. to see if something new has popped up and keep wondering if I have any family members I can sell to get a new mask!!! !!!
