Science question on display cases

When you put your Myers masks into display cases, doesn’t the static from the fresh case cause the hair to frizzle??
Meaning the hair starts to stand. It’s horrible especially mohair.
Any ways of preventing this?
Thanks

Brillianize anti-static plastic cleaner is the best way to go.

Didn’t know such stuff existed :open_mouth:
Thanks Benny!

No problem Kaizu!

Acrylic is used in some of my framed art (acrylic is more optically pure than most glass) and this stuff does a great job cleaning and minimizing static.

You can get it from several places, here’s one to start you out:

Scott (Quiet on the Set) would be a good person to ask as well since he has worked with these sort of cases many times.

Thanks again Benny
Yeah, I just checked some sites and found sprays for plastic and acrylic that prevent static.
Don’t want my masks to look like Young Einstein.lol

Just throw a few Bounce dryer sheets in there…

No static and smells fresh.

I use acrylic cases and I have no problems or whatsowever with static charges.

Was wondering what that guy from 40 year old virgin was using

Mines those plastic ones and it has tons of static :open_mouth:

Nope, I just re-checked it. I even rubbed the case in order to make it statically charged but still no fuzzy hair  .Not sure though why acrylic doesn’t have that… Downside it’s not cheap. I made a case myself but a few acrylic plates cost me about $300 and I had to assemble them myself! So actually the cases from Scott are very, very reasonably priced! I wanted to order one as well but shipping over to Europe is bit of a hassle… so I decided to make one myself.

Nick

Is it the one hanging on your wall??
Those looked extremely nice

Yep that’s the one. I need to make another one for some other masks… I just don’t seem to keep the collection at 3 masks or less…

Nick

Brillianize is great stuff. You don’t really get static on the acrylic too much but it is there. Lower grade plastics and acrylic have more charge on the surface for sure. It really depends on the environment the case is in from my experience. Also if your case is standing on carpet or tile can make a difference.

Thanks Scott, I will definetly keep that in mind
I used some anti-static cleaner and it did the trick.

Thanks everyone!
