Whats with this term being thrown around like its a descriptive term for a replica? It seems that everyone who gets a mask these days that looks anything like a true screen used mask likes to call thier mask “screen used”. I’m a HUGE fan of replica masks and props dont get me wrong I own pleanty myself. Its just such a contradiction when someone posts an item and tells you that its a replica but throws “screen used” in the description or title. I could understand if y’all said “screen acurate” because in many cases thats true as these items I see posted are fantastic replicas. I own alot of screen used items as well as replica items and every time I see someone lable a replica “screen used” I’m a bit insulted. As I recall a few masks include the term in question in thier names and in those cases I can understand but other than that whats up with people throwing that term in thier item descriptions/titles?
I agree 100% with your take on it. “Screen Used” should not be thrown around. By definition it would lead one to believe that it was “Used On Screen” It’s a common problem in advertising as well (advertising in general, not here at this forum) people throw around all types of adjectives and descriptions and they are usually misleading or just plain wrong.
Thanks. I was expecting negtive reaction to this post so its refreshing to see that the first reply was from someone who shares my POV.
Oh, don’t worry, there will probably be many posts that will explain why you are so wrong in your thinking Edit BTW, I think your term “Screen Accurate” is a much better way to put it
I’ll stick to my guns. If your item never appered on a screen other than the one on your digital camera or your computer then you shouldnt use the term screen used. Haters beware, rationality has my back lol
I agree with the point. Screen Used = Used on screen. Everything else is just accurate.
I hear what you guy’s are saying, but Nik over at Nikolas art Studios, created a mask that he named screen used, i’m not 100% sure, but I think he was looking for just a name to name his sculpt, but don’t quote me on that. and some people want to see that mask, so they ask in a post to show off thier screen used masks. this is just some info I thought i’d share with you all… Dean
I’ll admit, we are seeing too many people use the term and it’s going to start getting very misleading if it hasn’t already.
I don’t really like how people have been using it lately. Very misleading sometimes, especially to someone who just got into the hobby.
precisely what i was going to say, but, ya did it for me matt
Its ridiculous to call any mask that WASN’T used in a film “screen used”.
Nik used the term as an actual name for a mask, after that though, anything else is misleading.
Even naming a mask this is mis leading to a new member.
Agree!
Well if you say it looks screenused, that’s different than saying it is screenused. I think it is more deceiving actually naming a mask Screenused.
So do I!
