SG H20 & size

Hey whats up guys…Just looking for some backround on this one…If im not mistaken these were made from the movie mold right…If so were they made from a different mold than the mold SSN uses…I know there were several mask for the film so I was just curious if the SG was made from a different mold…Then if it is made from a different mold off set what secenes was the mask from this mold used in…Confusing I know…Just looking for the backround on these guys…Later

Tom smith at SG got the Hero winston from Andrew donato when he owned it, and Andrew agreed to let him claypress it, to sell copies to the public, take care, Z

One more question…To those that own or have owned one…How do they fit…Are they larger than SSN’s H20’s…Like in the 23.5-24 inch range…Im thinking about getting one…I was on a hunt for a SSn but I just cant find one that will fit me and I think the SG is a nice mask…Ive heard they are larger in the medium range but I would like to hear this from someone who owns one or has owned one…Thanks guys

i own one, my head is 22.8 or 23, and its a little big on me, it say like 23.5-24 u would be fine, Z

Thanks again man…I do have one more question…Can you still order these and how is their rep over there…Thanks

1, yes you can
2, i didnt have a problem tom kept in good contact, and turn around time was like 2-3 weeks around, i highly reccomend doing business with him, Z

Cool…Thanks bud…You have been great man…Later bro

anytime dude, take care, Z

Curtis. … maybe i can be of some help:

the ssn is recasted from a made for the film but not used (like cs h8 LE) winston.
smiths grove is yes from andrew jitb donotos old h20 HERO

Curtis, this mask is SMALLER THAN the h20 v.2

my head is 24.5 in and the v.2 and durand fit me perfectly with a HIGHER back cut. . .

the smiths grove would not fit with a higher back cut. . .

it fit my bros head with a 23 in head. . . BUT the cat i sold my old smiths grove to who has same head size as my bro said it would not fit

it strikes me as weirdly proportunate.,. which is why i think it doesnt always fit right. . .

now, there is a LARGER MOLD that tom smith used to have. . . that mask would have been perfect. … ive emailed tom numerous times on the masks current sizing but never got an answer. . but he did say its same size as the h20 small from the first run.

so, brother I would find out which sized mask you are getting because this is a beautiful but TRICKY one.

feel free to pm me. … ive spent 7 months of intensive research and talking to makers last year over the h20 so ill gladdly pass info along to you.

thanks

A

Thanks Machina…Im lost now LoL…See I had a V2.0 when they were first rleased and it was very small…Like a 22…I could barely get it on and once I did it was very tight…Hard to breath tight and it felt like it was cutting off circulation to my face…Ive heard the durrands are small also…Then after speaking to a few people they suggested the SG H20 because they were larger…Then In the past 2 days Ive heard from 3 others who said the same thing you did…They are small also…Man I dont where to go…I know some of each mask have been larger…Ive heard some people have 23.5-24 inch V2.0’s and Durrands…Then Ive heard there are some SG’s in the 23.5-24 inch range also…Either people arent measuring their heads right or the mask are being poured and pulled differently LoL  …I guess Im just gonna have to dig and find one making sure the seller knows the right size…Man the H20 is tough :imp:  …Thanks for the help guys…Later

Let me see if I can help…the problem is with variances in the latex. Every H20 mask I’ve sold, aside from 1 I believe, were pulled from molds made from the same master copy. I have a large noggin in the 23" range, and when I tried one on in the beginning, it was perfect. Since then, I haven’t tried it. I’ve been hearing mixed opinions on the subject of my pieces as well, which brings me to the only conclusion that it’s the latex. I used to buy from Monster Makers, then I discovered Fright Props (cheaper, same RD407), so started buying from them. Then I got more Monster Makers. I’ve found that some batches I received were thinner than others. When they thin it like that, it makes for a smaller pull. There’s nothing I can do about that.

So bottom line, there are variances out there, and it’s NOT because they came from different sized molds. The larger one I do have comes from a 27" mold, which brings the pieces to around 24-25" when cured from that mold. I found that even too large for my own noggin.

I will have to start measuring the pieces after they cure, for some certainty.

My SG fit me better then my SSN V2 and the seven I had. My head is about 24/24.5 inches around.
Mine is #17 Ithink… from the original run not sure if the newer ones are smaller.
Some pics of mine are in this thread. i just trimmed up the hair recentlety and cut off the neck extension.
