So my town got a Spirit Store and I went in to find old Blue lips has returned, only without the blue lips. What really made we want to burn the store down was… they replaced Dennis Beckstrom’s Don Post Rob Zombie sculpt with some Blue Lips style version. I’m not really one to bang on the mass produced mask industry, but I couldn’t understand having the new animated RZ Myers (who has a great likness, for being mass produced) right there by the masks, to tell everyone what a sucker they were if they bought that horrible piece of latex junk on the rack.

Hmm… a RZ blue lips? Interesting… you should try to walk in and sneak a few pictures. 
I thought about taking some with my camera phone Steve, but while I was holding it, bile started bubbling in my stomach and I was starting to get sick. I’m sure some will surface here.
It could of been an RZ version of this mask too, I was distraught, so my mind could of been toying with me.
and for those who don’t know what Blue Lips is…
That bottom mask has to be the worst one I’ve ever seen. The hair is sculpted?!?! Geez! Others like it are at local Spirit stores here as well and they look just as bad up close. The ones I’ve seen have hair nets on them in a vain attempt at keeping the hiar in place/attached to the mask. Oddly, the RZ Halloween mask looks far better in person compared to the pictures.
I walked into a Halloween Express store over the weekend… and wow, the quality of masks just gets worse and worse every year. They only had a few Beckstrom Post myers and they were horribly finished. The only other masks worth a damn were the Zagone releases like Grim Reaper and Dorian. The rest was absolute garbage… don’t think I’ll be going to another Spirit or H-Express for a long while. Mom & Pop stores are the way to go if your’e lucky enough to have one in your area. If not, you’ve gotta stick w/ ebay and the forums.
Yeah the spirits in our area stay with old blue lips…They have them every year and none of them had the DB version…So I wouldnt expect anything much different this year…To tell you the truth I have never like spirits…Like warlock said the quality gets worse every year…I havent bought a mask from them in ages…Before I became a member here Ialways bought off ebay…Its w aist of your dollar IMO when you canget better mass produced mask second hand or somewhere else…
thank God i found this place! i dont regreat buying not one mask on this forum. everyone was worth every penny and seeing mass produced crap like this makes me wanna go clean and stare at my masks for awhile. thanks for the reminder swampbilly 
Good ol Blue lips . Yeah we dont haev spirit stores or even any specific halloween stores around where I live all we got is good old walmart which is selling the dont posts with the sculpted on hair . Now id never buy one but seeing how it could be worse(Blue lips) I guess I aint gonna be dissing on it anymore . But yeah I cant remember the last time I actualy bought a mask from a local store since the quality has gone down sooooo much . Last time I think I did buy one was like 10 years ago
Not sure if anyone would be interested, but the Spirit Online site has the RZH1 mask for sale @ 20% off. I lucked out, there was a website snaffu so they gave me an additional 10%. I had just seen one at a local shop, as I mentioned above, so I payed $30 less online. Usually if you create an account for an online store and keep an item in your cart for a day or two you’ll get an e-mail offering a discount if you go ahead and buy.
I you like the RZH1 mask that is, and again it’s far better in person, and you can’t see yourself spending $150 plus for a mask.

well if you look at it this way the halloween stores cater to little kids who go out trick or treating, So i dont think a 8 year old is going to care much for the accuracy of the mask they’re looking at lol!

That really pisses me off. Dennis’ mask really is TONS better than the usual DP crap we get. The first time in a decade we’ve seen a decent DP Myers in fact. Heck, you take one of these and have them painted up properly and they REALLY aren’t bad.

The ‘Myers’ masks may look like slim pick’ns at those places but I see about 4 or 5 really nice original character Don Posts released this year I want to pick up. 
I agree with you. The Myers masks (outside of Dennis’) sucked but there were some nice original character Don Posts this year, I saw some cool animatronics (I think that is what they are called) and props as well.

why would anybody sell that garbage and pass it off as a Myers mask?? Really?? Do people actually think that these masks are any good?? I look at these mass produced Myers masks, and I get 
It makes me so mad. I understand, not everybody can afford a great Myers mask, and that’s fine, but, why produce such garbage??
I went to a Halloween Express a couple days after they opened. There were no H2 masks at all, nor were there any of the '09 masks. Perhaps the store didn’t have everything out yet?
In any case, I do agree that Halloween stores are getting worse by the year.
That’s upsetting… 
I haven’t been into one yet this year but I really hope all of the stores selling masks this year have better then they have. Wal-Mart has gone so cheap the masks don’t even look like kids will buy them and from the left overs of last year I would say they aren’t. The best place I have found to buy stuff is Walgreens if there is one near you anyways.
