Agreed.
I would go with the 75K but the price went up to $375, at least that’s what Nik told me.

Yeah, this is the info I was going by. Like I said, 75K wins hands down for accuracy (& obviously I love them - I’ve had three & have two more on the way
) but the HSS is cheaper (of course, I’m going by blank prices…so that probably does makes a big difference
) But, I like 'em both…what can I say? ![]()
$375 is definitely a bigger swing, but when we say affordable in terms of mask prices,we are talking about non-high-end masks.Unfortunately in this hobby,$375 is still considered reasonable, especially when you are talking about accuracy. Now,if a mask being dead-on accurate is not important, then I believe Bob over at MMFX has the best prices and his Kirk’s are really cool. They have a vintage look all the way.I own a Captain Boogeyman and love it.That is if we are talking price only, but If you can go a step further, then definitely the 75K.The mask is worth every penny, even at $375.
I have tried emailing Nik twice since Friday (the email address on his website) and have not received a reply, is there an alternate address to contact him at?
Also in this post it sounded like he still had mask left. I’ve been away from the boards for about the last 3 years for the most part but am I correct in assuming that Nik’s mask is a Kirk and must be converted by JC? Nik’s mask doesn’t come in white if you know what I mean? If that is the case getting a finished product in time for Halloween is out of the question, right?

Dude, Nik offers a whole shlew of original Myers masks. However, the only way you’d get one in time for Halloween is if you find one on eBay or one that a member is trying to sell.
Perhaps I am going to the wrong website, because the one I am going to does not display a large number of options. This is the one I checked www.nikolassculpturestudio.com
Also this is the email listed in the contact section: ndresios@otenet.gr Should I be emailing another address?
Nik hasn’t updated his website in ages. Your best bet is to contact him here through PM’s. His username is nikolasartstudio. Ask about his H78 Deluxe or Nightmare. Best H1’s available in my opinion. And thank everybody for the input. I’d definitely jump at the 75K if the price wasn’t so crazy. I’ll soon be recovering from purchasing my grail mask for $380 followed by a Warlock for $225 and a H3 Trio for the same price, so I’m not really looking to spend that much for a Kirk. I’ll probably pick up a MMFX Kirk from a friend of mine or a HSS Kirk.
mmfx makes very affordable kirks that are very nice! ![]()

Nik usually gets back to you in a few days. As far as pricing goes, the price did indeed go up to $375, he no longer offers standard version anymore, only deluxe for $375 and Im not sure if its a limited run or not. IMO, $375 is still “affordable”, and the accuracy you are getting is about as good as it gets. Spend the extra $50-$100 like Randy said and you got yourself one of the best if not the best kirk replica to date. But there are also other great accurate kirks like those that are mentioned in this thread…but get whatever strikes you the most.
BenTramer1981, to answer your question about conversion, that is all up to you. JC and AHG do kickass work and are the best guys in the business . A conversion though is not a “must” if you plan on keeping it as a kirk or having Nik do the finishing, he can also knock out great finishing work. Ive had no complaints with NIK’s finishing, as a matter of fact I get PM’s all the time asking if AHG or JC or someone else converted my masks, but they are all NIK. Hope this helps. I know this is a kirk thread, but Ill post a shot of my 75k just so you have an idea, done up by Nik.

so when nik recently told me the price was $275, was that for a blank?

Better email him to clarify that. Sounds like a lot for a blank - maybe a blank haired?
I agree w most here though that the 75k is hands-down the best affordable Kirk out there.
am i the only one who thinks the 75k is not considered affordable? ![]()

No, I’m sure you aren’t the only one. Many think it’s flat out ridiculous to spend anything over $50 for a Myers/Kirk mask.
But considering other Kirks out there are going for $1,000+ that are pretty much on the same level, I’d say that makes
the 75k a winner when you want accuracy + affordability.
am i the only one who thinks the 75k is not considered affordable?
No, I agree. If it were still $275, I’d go for it. But since it’s so much, I’m probably gonna go with HSS. Even though I hate most of Sam’s masks.
i don’t think the price is ridiculous and i think it is worth the money but i think for some it isn’t in the category of affordable, lol! i guess you get what you pay or huh? ![]()
75 K is a terrific mask. Nik said time and time again the price would increase and to order while it was discounted. I think the mask is very reasonably priced before with the discount and even now with the slight increase.

yeah i know it is for the quality but i am thinking in terms of category! ![]()

It’s a lot like Scream masks. I view them as a $10-$25 mask - Fearsome/Fantastic/EU - doesn’t matter. But to others they’re worth $200-$300+ simply b/c they look more like the masks used in the film.
The hype around some of those masks is absolutely ridiculous to me… but then again, I’m not a HUUUUGE fan of the films.
HalloweeN is another story - I buy into the hype easily and drop the cash. The closer you get to accuracy the more people are usually willing to pay. The 75K is pretty darn close so to me it was a no-brainer.
no but i DO think it is worth it
