The Definitive Guide to All Halloween 1-11 Masks, Boots, Coveralls, and Knives **PIC HEAVY**

Halloween H20 (1998)
Number of Masks used: 4
Types: 1 mask from Halloween VI, 1 primary hero, 1 KNB reshoot mask, several stunt masks.
Boots Used: Honchos Steel Toed Men’s Work Boots
Coveralls Used: Charcoal Red Kap Coveralls
Weapons Used: 14" Wusthof Chef’s Knife
Actors Who Played Myers:Chris Durand

The Mask

The mask used in the beginning scenes of the film was left over from Halloween VI. It was not until several years ago when a member discovered this after pointing it out in a screen capture from H20. The other mask used was sculpted by KNB FX and has a very odd look to it, which is exactly why producers decided to scrap it at the last second when shooting was almost wrapped. They decided to hire the Stan Winston FX company to sculpt a new mask and reshoot almost every scene. Due to time constraints they had to leave a few in a few scenes with the KNB mask, as well as most promotional shots. However, there is one scene that they did not have time to reshoot in which they placed a mask CGI’d over Chris Durand’s head. CGI was relatively new at the time, so keep in mind this looked absolutely ridiculous.

Where are the Original Masks Today?

Member “Richard Vandark” on the board owned a stunt H20 Winston mask at one time but sold it a few years back to a collector outside of the community. User “Tony Moran Fan” also owns a screen used Winston mask. The screen used KNB masks have circulated through a couple of members on this site, but their location today is unknown.

The Winston Mask

One of the Stan Winson H20 hero mask’s is owned by the one and only Darren Hughes, and a surviving stunt copy was previously owned by Michael-Myers.net member “Richard Vandark”. Photos are below. Such a wonderful mask!

The KNB Mask

A total of 3 main KNB masks were used for filming, and one of them is currently owned by Darren Hughes. The other two locations are unknown, but I will update it as the info and pics come. More pictures of Darren’s mask, as well as some random photos of some of the other Hero KNB masks are below.

The CGI Mask

Ahhh, the huge pimple on the face of Halloween H20. The visual FX team didn’t have time to reshoot this scene, so instead they put a CGI mask over top of the KNB mask. As you can see below, horrible mistake .

The Halloween VI Mask

This mask was made for Halloween VI but was used in the opening scenes of Halloween H20, plain and simple . I am unaware of who owns this specific mask today, but I will update this section as soon as the information is provided to me .

The Boots

The boots used in Halloween H20 were Gorilla Steel Toed Men’s Work Boots. David Brandon of Horrordomain used to (and still might) own a supposed pair of production boots that he often claims were used in Halloween VI, but the true on screen boots from Halloween H20 are owned by Darren Hughes.

The Coveralls

The coveralls used in Halloween H20 are Charcoal Red Kap Coveralls. These coveralls are fairly cheap and still made! Some websites have them as low as $27.99! They can also be found on eBay.

The Knife

The knife used in Halloween H20 was a 14" Wusthof chef’s knife. This knife will run you about $500, so I definitely suggest buying one that looks similar or buying a replica from one of the talented knife makers on this board.

Types: For sure 1 Hero, possibly 1 stunt, 1 clown mask, For Sure 15 masks “made for film”, possibly more
Boots Used: Black Greb Mark III Combat boots.

The Halloween Resurrection mask looked much angrier than the Halloween masks before it. The mask sported painted eyebrows, human hair, and very sharp distinctive features.

Where are the Original Masks Today?

The hero mask was sold at auction several years ago to a private collector, the stunt mask’s location is unknown, and the 15 “Limited Edition” masks are in the hands of numerous collectors.

The Hero Mask

The hero Halloween Resurrection mask was owned by Malek Akkad for many years after the filming of Halloween VIII but he donated it to CharityBuzz to be sold at auction. The final bid price was just upwards of $23,000. It was sold to a private collector.

The Stunt Mask

Assuming that there was a stunt mask for the film, it’s location is unknown.

The 15 “Made for Film” Masks

After Halloween Resurrection was released, company Cinema Secrets released several versions of the Halloween Resurrection mask- Classic, Economy, Deluxe, and Collectors Edition. The Classic was very cheap, the economy was also mass produced, the deluxe was mass produced but had AMAZING movie detail, the collector’s edition was limited to 1000 and was accompanied by a COA. It had full movie details but no human hair.

Now for the Limited Edition masks. 15, yes, 15 of these masks were made to be used as back-ups for the film. These masks have all the details of the original movie mask and are well worth their high price tag.

The Clown Mask

The clown mask worn by Harold in Halloween Resurrection was a “Merry Clown” mask made by Cesar Inc. The actual screen used mask is owned by Darren Hughes.

Halloween (2007)
Number of Masks used: 4+
Types: 1 “Clown” mask, 1 “Clean” Hero, 1 “Escape” Hero, 1 Scarred Hero, possibly several stunt masks.
Boots Used: HEAVILY WEATHERED Carolina Logger Boots (Model 8519)
Coveralls Used: Carhartt X02 Coveralls
Weapons Used: 10" Victorinox Forschner with Rosewood Handle, 12" Victorinox Forschner with Rosewood Handle
Actors Who Played Myers: Daeg Faerch, Tyler Mane

The Mask

The “Myers” masks used in Halloween (2007) was custom sculpted by Wayne Toth by using a lifecast of actor Tyler Mane’s face, giving the mask most of Mane’s features. Because Toth didn’t account for latex shrinkage in the sculpt, the mask was very tight on Mane’s face. Michael’s character for this film was supposed to have long hair, but actor Tyler Mane couldn’t fit a wig under the msak because it was so tight. Because of this Toth glue hair inside the neck of the mask. This was the first mask in the whole series to change up the face of Michael Myers.

Where are the Original Masks Today?

Because there were so many masks, they are scattered throughout cast and crew. Daeg owns a clown and a clean myers mask, Mane owns a scarred myers and the “escape mask”, and it is assumed that Rob Zombie owns one of each. Malek Akkad also owns a scarred version. The others may be owned by various cast and crew, but it is unknown at this time.

The Clown Mask

Young Michael’s clown mask in Halloween (2007) was directly cast off of an original Collegeville clown mask. The original masks were very flimsy, so they cast their own copies in thick plastic that would be more durable for filming. It is confirmed that the hero clown mask is owned by Daeg Faerch. Rob Zombie may own a copy, but this is unconfirmed.

The Clean Mask

As stated above, the clean mask was made by sculpting by Wayne Toth using a lifecast of Tyler Mane. I have not seen a photo of the screen used clean mask. If anyone is able to provide one, please do and I will add it here

The Escape Mask

The escape mask was worn by Tyler Mane in the “Escaping the Sanitarium” scenes, as well as the “Joe Grizzly” kill scenes. It was a hard platic shell with paper mache laid overtop of it. Several were made, but one is confirmed to be owned by Tyler Mane.

The Scarred Mask

The scarred mask was also created by retooling a lifecast of Tyler Mane’s face. Several people from the list of individuals that own a copy of this mask are Tyler Mane, Rob Zombie, and Malek Akkad.

The Boots

The boots used in Halloween (2007) were HEAVILY WEATHERED Carolina Logger Boots (Model 8519). I believe that this particular model of boot is not produced anymore, but pairs can often be found second hand on eBay. If not, there are still similar pairs that can be purchased.

The Coveralls

The coveralls used in Rob Zombie’s Halloween Remake (2007) were Carhartt X02 coveralls. The on screen coveralls were heavily weathered, obviously, and featured several custom “patches” on the arm and breast area. These coveralls are fairly expensive but can still be found all over the internet.

Weapons Used

The filmmakers working on Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake ran into a bit of a problem with the knife being used. The 10" version looked great in Daeg Faerch’s (young Michael Myers’) hand but tiny in Tyler Mane’s hand. The 12" version of the knife looked great in Tyler Mane’s hand but comically large in Daeg Faerch’s hand. To solve this, they simply used both sizes of the knife. The 10" Victorinox Forschnerfor Daeg Faerch’s scenes and the 12" Victorinox Forschner for Tyler Mane’s scenes.

  1. Young Michael’s Knife- 10" Victorinox Forschner with Rosewood Handle
  2. Mature Michael’s Knife- 12" Victorinox Forschner with Rosewood Handle

1. Young Michael’s Knife- 10" Victorinox Forschner with Rosewood Handle

As stated above, film producers used a 10" Victorinox Forschner knife with a Rosewood Handle because the 12" version looked comically large in Daeg Faerch’s Hand. Interestingly enough, this is the same knife used in Halloween VI.

2. Mature Michael’s Knife- 12" Victorinox Forschner with Rosewood Handle

Also stated above, film producers used a 12" Victorinox Forschner knife with a Rosewood Handle for mature Michael’s scenes because the 10" version looked comically small in Tyler Mane’s Hand. Interestingly enough, this is the same knife used in Halloween Resurrection.

Halloween 2 (2009)
Number of Masks used: 3+
Types: 1 “Dream Sequence” mask, 1 “Revolver” Hero, 1 “Exposed” Hero, possibly several stunt masks.
Boots Used: HEAVILY WEATHERED Carolina Men’s 8 in. Steel Toe Boots (Model 1809)
Outfit Used: Weathered Carhartt X01 Coveralls, Fox Urban Utility Jacket Woodland Camo, Dark Green Dickies TJ319 Rustic Twill Hooded Jacket, Weathered Kenneth Cole Reaction Black Wool Fairmount Coat, “Hugo Valentino” Mens Flannel Quilted Button Up

Actors Who Played Myers: Tyler Mane

The Mask

The mask for Halloween 2 was also sculpted by Wayne Toth used Mane’s lifecast again. Learning from his mistakes, Toth sculpted the mask big enough to account for latex shrinkage. As the movie progresses, the mask deteriorates further and further. Due to this, a fraction of the mask’s face is ripped off when Michael is attacked by a stripper. This is the first film to have Michael’s face exposed through most of the movie.

Screen used “exposed” mask. Photo Credit: Unknown

Where are the Original Masks Today?

Many masks were made for filming, so it is likely that there are versions somewhere out there that we don’t know about. Mane owns an “exposed” Myers mask, as shown above. Rob Zombie owns one, possibly several of each mask. Malek Akkad also owns an “exposed” version. The others may be owned by various cast and crew, but it is unknown at this time.

The Dream Sequence Mask

The Dream sequence mask was sculpted by Wayne Toth using Tyler Mane’s lifecast and is seen at the end of Rob Zombie’s Halloween and in the opening Dream Sequence of Rob Zombie’s H2. It is unconfirmed but believed that Rob Zombie and Malek Akkad own at least one of these masks.

The Revolver Mask

The Revolver mask was sculpted by Wayne Toth using Tyler Mane’s lifecast and is seen on Michael for the second quarter of Rob Zombie’s H2. The mask is aging and falling apart rapidly but does not yet have the famous “exposed” look that we all are familiar with. It is unconfirmed but believed that Rob Zombie and Malek Akkad own at least one of these masks. I do not have a picture of the Revolver mask to add, but if someone provides one I would be more than happy to include it

The Exposed Mask

The Exposed mask was sculpted by Wayne Toth using Tyler Mane’s lifecast and is seen on Michael for the second half of Rob Zombie’s H2. As the mask is already aging and falling apart rapidly, Michael and a stripper get into a conflict and she slaps him in the face. This causes half of the face to rip off giving us the famous “exposed” look. It is unconfirmed but believed that Rob Zombie owns at least one of these masks. Malek Akkad owns one of the escape masks. Tyler Mane owns at least one of these masks.

The Boots

The boots used in Halloween 2 (2009) were Carolina Men’s 8 in. Model 1809 Steel Toe Boots. These boots are slightly different than those used in Halloween (2007), as pointed out by member Davy Krueger. This particular model of boot is still produced, but the design has changed a bit making them a little inaccurate to what is seen on screen. The old model had rivets lacing the laces, like most boots do, but they replaced those rivets with hooks on the newer models.

The Outfit

In Halloween 2 (2009) Michael wears what has been dubbed the “Hobo” outfit. For additional details see sections below. It consists of 4 layers, then the coveralls:

Layer 1
The first and outermost layer consists of a Woodland Camo Fox Urban Utility Jacket that is weathered and has had the sleeves removed at the seams.

New Woodland Camo Jacket

Layer 2

The second layer is a Dark Green Dickies TJ319 Rustic Twill Hooded Jacket with the sleeves removed. For the film costume the lining of layer 1 was taken out and this jacket was sewn inside of it, with the exception of the hood. Many costume makers just sew the hood onto the camo jacket as it is an easier process.

New Dickies Hooded Jacket

Layer 3

The third layer consists of a Weathered Kenneth Cole Reaction Black Wool Fairmount Coat. This has been slightly weathered with rips, tears, and holes.

New Kenneth Cole Black Wool Coat

Layer 4

The fourth layer is a “Hugo Valentino” Mens Flannel Quilted Button Up. The Shirt has had the quilted lining ripped out on the button seams and sleeves, exposed, and weathered with holes and dirt. Many costume makers have found it easier to buy quilted fabric and sew it into the sleeves and shirt, then weather it.

New “Hugo Valentino” Mens Flannel

Layer 5, The Coveralls

The coveralls used in Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 (2009) were Carhartt X01 coveralls. The on screen coveralls were heavily weathered, obviously, and featured several custom “patches” on the arm and breast area. These coveralls are fairly expensive but can still be found all over the internet.

Weapons Used

There were two knives featured in Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2. A 12" Victorinox Forschner with Rosewood Handle and a custom made bowie knife modeled after the Hunters Companion Bowie Knife.

  1. Hospital Scene Knife- 12" Victorinox Forschner with Rosewood Handle
  2. Bowie Knife- Custom Made Knife by Sword and Stone, Modeled after the Hunters Companion Bowie Knife

1. Hospital Scene Knife- 12" Victorinox Forschner with Rosewood Handle

The knife from H2’s hospital scene was a 12" Victorinox Forschner with Rosewood Handle. This is the same knife as used in the first Rob Zombie’s Halloween, as well as Halloween Resurrection!

2. Bowie Knife- Custom Made Knife by Sword and Stone, Modeled after the Hunters Companion Bowie Knife

This bowie knife was custom made for filming by the company Sword and Stone. They claim that it was an original idea, but the knife’s blade bears some SERIOUS resemblance to the Hunter’s Companion Bowie Knife. The HC Bowie’s usually run about $90 and most members take off the original handle and add their own. This makes for the most accurate H2 bowie.

Halloween (2018)
Number of Masks used: 5

Boots Used: ARCTIV8 Men’s EARTH Pro 6 Inches Premium Full-Grain Leather Plain Rubber Sole Soft Toe Work Boots
Coveralls Used: Weathered 9.5 oz Charcoal Workrite Ultra Soft Work Coveralls .
Undershirt Used: Navy Heather Gold Toe Men’s Crew Neck T-Shirt
Weapons Used: 8" J.A. Henckels International Chef’s Knife, Vintage 12" REX Chef’s Knife
Actors Who Played Myers: Nick Castle, James Jude Courtney

The Mask

The mask was sculpted by Christopher Nelson, the FX artist for popular movies and TV shows such as Suicide Squad and American Horror Story, to name a few. He studied latex rot heavily while making this mask and in my opinion he did a great job!

Where are the Original Masks Today?

5 masks were used for the movie. 1 is owned by Nick Castle, 1 is in the possession of James Jude Courtney, the others I am unsure of.

The Boots

It appears as if the boots used in the Halloween 2018 film are ARCTIV8 Men’s EARTH Pro 6 Inches Premium Full-Grain Leather Plain Rubber Sole Soft Toe Work Boots.

The Coveralls

Several minutes after a photo surfaced of Nick in the Halloween coveralls, I identified them as Heavily Weathered Workrite Ultra Soft Work Coveralls. The color is charcoal, they are 9.5 oz and they have been weathered for the film. Nick claimed they were navy blue, but this does not check out when comparing store-bought Navy Blue and store-bought Charcoal Workrites. Below is a photo showing the same charcoal pair, just in different lighting.
