The Devil's Eyes, Sassy Tackle, and The Death of The Boogeyman

Wanted a way more ambitious and eye catching title but i only got 65 characters to work with lol… which you my faithful readers will soon find is just not sufficient or sustainable for me! (Maybe ill write out my overly ambitious forum title sometime. But anyways. Halloween?!! No way I or anyone in this group lets this not be relevant , because regardless of what DGG and curtis think , Evil Never Dies and you cant kill the boogeyman, (but thats all curtis has wanted to do, watch her interviews… ) the strange thing being in kills she says "let him take my head as i take his… which i think would have been the better choice for ends and a great premonition or nod to things to come…) …but lets get to the real nitty gritty…so this is quite a bit of material to cover , (i want this to be a post thats inspiring) but i still feel after all the stuff thats been talked about , there are still many more things to discuss /stones to turn , as well as what made the original so iconic and what justice micheal is still yet to be served to make a Halloween movie that does what the first movie did so well …alright well i guess ill just say lets open the floor to the whole franchise (movies , novels, discarded scripts) and lets discuss things that really work and dont work and brainstorm ideas of what we need to see in the next installments…I want to start with the dgg trilogy and branch out from there to start.

The Good

I feel the christopher nelson masks /costumes and music are the biggest highlights in the trilogy … i think the masks were undershot , we really barely get to see it
for more than a few seconds at a time … there should have been alot more cool lighting shots and letting the mask breathe (get it?). Should have had more firefighter massacre scenes… and the p.o.v shot in that sequence was so cool …p.o.v and the panavision glide are what made the original so unique… and should have been used more than twice. i feel it was very sorely underutilized in Kills and a huge missed oppurtunity. (Seeing micheal through his eyes in 78 opening is still terrifying even tho there is little blood ; think about it if it was gorey…and even more dragged out (micheal playing cat and mouse also sorely underutilized) The shot of michael walking behind house in 2018 (homage to halloween 2) should have been a more recurring theme . Its scary to just watch micheal in his element doing things. (78 the scene where he carries annies body is still creepy iMO.)

The Bad

Speaking of shots, i didnt like the whole stylized killing so much at the end in kiĺls… we deserved more than a montage (which the trilogy basically is , a montage /amalgamation of things from every movie. As a fan i live the idea but it takes away from being truly original (which i think the masks and music did righteously). The firefighter scene should have been longer…such a badass moment and its over in a heartbeat…why doesnt brackett shoot micheal at the very start of mob scene, why does nobody know what micheal looks like without mask, why doesnt anybody other than laurie acknowledge that he is more than a man even though the cops from 78 know he was shot multiple times by loomis, why does he kill a child in 2018 (bus escape)and a teenager in kills (skull mask decaption) which i feel should have been an important and devastating scene) yet doesnt kill julian even tho he clealry sees him enter the closet? Why doesnt julian run when tbat happens ? Hes clearly the smarter character. Also , why doesnt he retalliate when laurie shoots him in the shoulder ? I think they took the “hes not after her” a little too far. My reasoning is he was pissed at someone having his mask (reporter) and took revenge but he gets injured and he lets it go? She stabbed him in 78 in the neck that didnt stop him . Tho he doesnt know its her , why would he not retalliate? Why doesnt he stab allyson when she says do it? He overpowered a firefighter with a saw why is a girl with a knife an issue?
And why is hawkins still alive? He got run over after being stabbed in 2018 yet they dont show that in recap in kills? Why is a man who got shot 6 times at short range not part of the mans legend ? Why is that point not overkilled to increase just how dangerous this “man” is?
50 cent got shot 9 times we never heard the end of it. Why is tommy doyle so brave ? I feel he would still be traumatized from 78. I feel like tommy wouldnt even be able to recount his night of the boogeyman without wanting to break down… also of note , why doesnt everyone know he got stabbed in the eye? Easily recognizable attribute , dead giveaway…the mob scene shoild have been out on the streets like it ended with characters a bit more aware of what they were dealing with. Their reporters are terrible but the characters even more so …reasoning …loomis would have reitarited the point again and again to repoters… he had the devils eyes… couldnt reach him for years… shot him 6 times…fell off a balcony, survived … these are not moot points in fact highly important to the mystique of micheal…laurie mentions in kills to karen, “he survived the fire, think about that…” “when he kills he transcends” if thats the case , why if hes been killing in Ends (missing person on billboard) is he so weak? Why has he laid dormant for years? Doesnt fit his M.O. which is the main thing every film has gotten wrong. In kills launie says he “creeps he kills he goes home…” not true…in 78 he goes home, than creeps and kills,…we dont see him return in H2. Its not his true m.o. he killed in 78 and gave up so i can forgive that in kills flashback… but what is that suggesting? That he has to kill in his house to be fullfilled… so why does he go dormant for 4 years after kills when he was at his strongest? I feel there are still 4 more movies that should have been made since he has to fufill his qouta every halloween…

The Ugly

Too much regurgation in DGG’s Trilogy and not enough originality. I feel it just borrows ideas intentionally from every halloween movie and christine for ends i like it for the homages but i hate it cuz theres just too many … its overkill…and doesnt do enough things to make it stand out and really make it an epic. Which halloween deserves to be. Lets go through every borrowed idea (some work some dont) micheal escaping by obsessed doctors hand …reasonable… micheal killing a kid in backseat of car as homage to 78 , doesnt work…reasoning … in flashback clip he has perfect oppurtunity to kill lonnie but doesnt? Is it a hallucination? No way MM got to his house without those cops noticing so killing lonnie by taking him into hedges( hedges kill scene and pumpkin patch kill scene still have not been done)isnt that unreasonable as weve seen him kill a youngster in 2018.(dgg movies all about mirroring past events my reasoning. ) did he just change his mind like the baby scene in 2018 which is a direct nod to H6 how he is after a baby relative…also notice how he picked that hammer up in 2018? Direct nod to H6 /H2 picking up machete /surgical blade in H6, elrod knife in H2…) this is tip of the iceberg folks but please lets discuss. Branch off , open up the space and let it take Shape…

Branching Out …I feel like H6 should have been this or touched on these ideas H6 still stands out for me cause there is alot they got right (atmosphere , micheal is actually terrifying, the mask…no brown eyebrows. we see Micheal do brutal things, first half of the movie is really good IMO minus the cult the curse is a good idea tho…the 78 novelization is really intriguing to me still. I think this actually works extremely well.
