The Spirit of Haddonfield. (Fan Film)

I enjoyed this very much! The film used, the cinematography, the lighting, and the music. For a 20 minute piece it certainly delivers. Thoughts?

I loved it too! Wish it was longer lol

I did really like it although i’m not too keen on the ending. But they did a great job with it!

I liked everything but the Myers, now I dont expect the mask to be great but I didnt like how he moved at all. Nothing against the guy I loved how he played Jason but I didnt like his myers, everything else was great though.

I like the cinematography and the lighting, pacing was good, but not a fan of the Myers actor or the closet cliche, honestly

I have mixed feelings on it. I love the throwbacks to H1, with how Michael stalks the random girl, just looking over his shoulder. I think the cinematography was good, and the music was pretty good. I think the closet scene was a bit too much like the H1 scene however. I also was a bit disappointed to see them use the TOTS H2 mask for Michael in this. It’s not a bad mask, but I feel like they could have done a lot better than that mask. I didn’t really care too much for the girl if I’m being honest. I sort of found her to be just a bit annoying. Also, I didn’t like the scene where she turns around and sees Michael as he follows her, then she turns around and yells at him. That was a bit cheesy and out of place I think. The ending was little odd too. And finally, I just don’t feel like 20 minutes was long enough, because you don’t really have enough time to get to know the girl, or set everything up before Michael shows up. Overall, I think it was good, but not great, in my opinion.

I think the mask could have been better, and regret it was only 20 minutes. However I still loved it! The chase scene after the first encounter really locked me in! Mr. Disanti’s walk was fantastic as well.

Hey! If you guys are looking a good fan film then watch Michael Myers: Absolute Evil. They play it out like if Michael Myers was real.

I love the passion of fans, but I’d rather just watch Halloween. I’ll ck them out to see the mask, then usually leave after that.

I liked the homage to the original and the score, and the attempt at the closet scene. Using a mass produced mask and the stiffness of Myers kinda killed it for me. I respect the attempt for sure but absolutely hated that ending

The constant need to wink at the audience, to reference the originals, or hide easter eggs all over the place turns me off of so many fan films. It’s rarely ever subtle and thus very cringe worthy. In the case of this film: lingering far too long on cell phone contact photos, and blatantly ripping off an entire scene from the first film. There are ways to pay homage to the originals without bashing us over the head with it.

Take cues from Never Hike Alone. Not a perfect film, kind of fan service-y at times(albeit, much more subtle), but a very solid effort with a genuinely surprising twist.

Having said all that, this film looks beautiful and is wonderfully shot. And I did kind of enjoy how it ended. It was close to being a great fan film for me. It’s a decent effort, but man, that closet scene just killed it for me.

Agreed. I liked the homage but the closet scene was so poorly executed when comparing it to quite possibly the most famous scene in the original, and the fact that it the was the last time we see Myers besides the window just threw me off

To be brutally honest I didn’t go for any of it at all. Way too much time spent on the girl with her cell phone. Why use THAT mask? Poor acting, odd ending, etc. Felt more like a standard fan film you see everywhere else. Watched “Never Hike Alone” again last night which is fantastic. It had more money invested but it’s far superior.

Lighting, VideoGrade, and music were good.

Yeah I kinda felt like a dick for being so critical but I am happy you spoke up as well. The music was amazing, obviously, as since it was nonprofit they used the original score. But that girl acting was just awkward, Mikey was stiff and although the cinematography was great I can’t understand why they went with a mass produced mask. The mask and ending bugged me the most. Unless they plan on making a sequel, it seemed like they stole the Jamie Lloyd idea and butchered it in my opinion. I love the nostalgia but Never Hike Alone was able to honor the films without being so over-the-top. I definitely respect everybody’s opinion but this was not for me at all

So did she kill the girl in the end or did Michael ?

I think that was the point of the title. I don’t know, but I liked it a little bit after rewatching it. I’ve watched it a few times now, myself. :myers:

So basically that was in her head or she was possessed by michaels spirit?

Either, that’s why I liked it. I don’t think we’re suppose to know for sure. Imo, I kind of enjoy that take.

I wonder the same thing. It was really weird because when I first saw it, I thought she stabbed her thinking it was Michael, but afterwards, I wasn’t too sure, so I felt maybe Michael did it, which would make sense. Either way, I wasn’t a fan of that part, or the ending in general. It just felt…off somehow, and not in a good way, at least to me.
