There's more than 1 way to skin a cat...or sell a mask

with ebay pulling so many myers auctions, i thought it would be good for maskers to exchange ‘‘selling stratagies’’ to get their masks out there.

in the past , i’ve sold my mask making DVD’s with a FREE study mask

Having ‘‘MEYERS’’ in the auction listing is a RED FLAG- how about using different names that Myers fans will come to know to put in the search…like MICHAEL MASK, WHITE MASK, etc…

POST YOUR IDEAS

Again. … I propose. …

I call my movement the hotdog eating mask revolution …

Painted white to better assist with ketchup and mustard splatters

Guys,

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. No matter what you call it in the auction title, you’ll still have it removed because your violating intellectual property rights. They can “cease and desist” you based on the sole fact that the mask resembles Michael Myers. What you call the mask, is completely and utterly irrelevent.

They (Trancas) own the LIKENESS and ALL OTHER RIGHTS pertaining to the character of Michael Myers. They own it for EVERY film every produced in the Halloween series. For those of you who have been lucky enough to sell your mask on eBay, it’s only because the Trancas people didn’t happen to catch your auction. If they had, it would’ve been tossed.

And lastly, to the few on this board who have tossed around the “great idea” of simply linking THIS site in your action, you’re as dumb as dumb can be. Calling that kind of attention to this site will only cause Derek and the rest of us major grief when they decide to show up with class action lawsuits and shut us down for copyright infringment.

Before some of you continue in your crusades, I offer 3 steps of advice.

  1. Think

  2. RESEARCH THE LAW

  3. Then, act accordingly

In that order.

How scary is that… I mean as much as I don’t even want to think about it… I wonder when they will show up here and start taking shots at members selling masks here and so on.

Aha! The name does have a major deal to do with it. If you list it as something other than “Michael Myers Mask” Then it is going to be a lot harder for Trancas to find the auction and shut it down.

We deff don’t need any unwanted attention, thats for sure.

So really what myers masks are they really able to take down ? Never have I seen a RZ myers taken down … Only the H1 and H2 masks what others have they not taken down ?

I stopped selling Myers for the most part on eBay years ago. But for some reason, I’ve never had an auction pulled… even using “Myers” in the title. This the best place to do sell anyway to avoid those ridiculous fees.

The Mike Myers, Austin Powers trading cards with the free mask is a pretty good one.

Jinx,

OBVIOUSLY the name has alot to do with it, but it’s the character itself that’s causing the issue(s). You could find about a hundred different ways around it, but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s technically against the law.

And what baffles me even more, is that you guys come here and SUGGEST the different ways around it, as if you think Trancas doesn’t come here to see what’s going on LOL! They DO come here, and the guy frontlining the Trancas crusades, is a former member here and of the hobby in general.

So, keep posting how you get around it all you want, but you’re making their job easier by doing so. They’ll just punch in all the different suggestions you make here and find your auction. And like I said, if they haven’t pulled your auctions before, be it H1, H2 or RZH, that’s likely only because they didn’t look too hard that particular week. But rest assured, they’ll get you eventually and flag your eBay account for faster shut downs later on.

even if you call it something else…the name is what sells…the common person searching will not think to type in Oscar mask, or white mask or anything like that…best bet…convert everyone to ioffer.com that place is awesome
