Things are getting out of hand!!!

I’ve been a respected member here, for about a year and a half!! I love reading stuff, and jumping in, where I can, BUT, I am starting to really hate these new members in here, with less than a couple of months on this site, having over 1200 posts!! Isn’t that rediculous??? I mean, I’m on the board. almost all day, everyday, and I don’t even have a quarter of the post, as some of these young members have!! 4 example, I saw somebody’s profile, the other day, and they haven’t even been a member for a couple of months yet, and that person, has like 1600 post!! That’s freakin rediculous!! What other RESPECTED members here, feel the same way!! This also goes for all the shmucks, that post a topic, and keep quoting peoples comments, to keep their thread, on the top of the page, and other threads that are more important, get dropped to the bottom of the page!!!

I HOPE SOME MODERATORS READ THIS POST, AND START HANDLING THIS MAJOR PROBLEM!!! IT’S ALL KIDS, TOO!!

wow you seem very angry james what happened bro ?

I can understand it but only to a certain degree…Ive been here going on almost 3 years and look at my post count…Its up there LoL…But if you go back and search my post you will notice something…You will notice that most likely 70% of my post are giving respect to other post…Saying things like “Congrats on the score” or “Nice Mask” to alot of people add’s up…I just like to be friendly to everyone…I know it sucks when you make a post of new mask score and dont get many responses… So I try to my best to make everyone feel good about their new scores or excitement over any new score…For me its just being be polite and doing my part as an active member to show some respect…I actually have cut that down because people have been complaining about post counts…I can understand it if its from a new member who is solly trying to raise a post count for the classifieds…I can understand if they are pointless and not following the rules doing the obvious in trying to keep their threads on top…But a high post count isnt always a bad thing…Sometimes members are just trying to polite to everyone they can in the amount of time they are here…Not trying to bust your thread bro, like I said it I can understand it to a certain extent…Id actually like veterans to reply to this as well and see what they think…I mean if a post count is considered ridiculous even in the manner mine got so high its simple…I just wont drop those “Nice score” replys anymore…I dreally like to know if that bothers people so Im actually glad you brought this up…Its not the first time it has come up, just the first time ive seen a single thread soly about it…Later guys

I can understand your point, and can empathize with you, but it could be worse…we could have noone posting, then there would be no m-m.net. Regardless if you like or dont like how much they post, they’re still contributing to the community we all love

i think the point he is trying to make is some people will comment on thier own post after every comment is made on it and keep pushing it to the top and meanwhile everybody else who is trying to contribute post, theres keep getting knocked down a notch. i think if you post something and people reply that you have a nice mask, you shouldnt have to thank each person individually. wait till you have atleast 10 comments before you thank someone rather then replying and boosting it back to the top every 2 minutes is a little unfair to other members trying to show there mask off to other members.thats just what i take from the topic

Personally, I think the main problem, is threads like this. You’ve been a member here for 14 months and 1 day. Does that now make you a ‘veteran’ and give you the right to speak bad about any new members? No it doesn’t. Nobody has the right to speak bad about new members. If you’ve been here a month, a year, 6 years, what ever. We are all simply here to enjoy our hobby of mask collecting. I do not see the problem with people having a high post count, as long as they are not making endless pointless threads. You cannot say it is ‘youngsters’ that cause all the problems either. We have alot of very cool, polite younger members, like we do the older guys. Age is not as important as most people think. It’s all about how each person conducts themselves infront of others. We’ve had just as many problems over the years with people over the age of 21. This thread has an extremely negative feel to it, and is obviously going to spark an argument or a fight. Exactly what this board does not need. If people only posted once a day, or less, the board would be pretty dead. The friend or foe feature is here for a good reason. If you do not like what a certain member is posting, add them as a foe. We would all get annoyed if someone registered, and made 100 posts in a day of pointless stuff like ‘what mask is this?’ over and over, but that is not the case. People with high post counts are replying to other member’s threads with constructive comments. I am glad the board is as active as it’s always been. We were all new to the hobby and keen to get involved at one point. As long as it’s kept within reason it’s nice to see abit of passion. People need to forget about the length of time they’ve been here, or how many posts each other has, it’s really not important. Post count means nothing. It’s personality, knowledge or helpfulness that counts.

Exactly right! Hay I got 1 more post …Woooooo

AMEN!! :prayer:

as a member who has only been here a few months, and also 15, im kind of insulated. i feel that im an active member of this community. and believe me, if i knew about this site i would have been joined long ago. i feel that i contribute to the art by buying masks and coveralls and i’ve never been disrespectful to any member on this site because i try to have respect for everyone in our community

I agree & i don’t but what do you want the MODS to do about it? “hey you , kid…You have not used foul language…Have not disrespected anyone…And have not caused trouble. You seem to be following the rules & having fun…Stop that!” Maybe people think your a schmuck who has no kind of life for being here “everyday …Almost all day” & only having 300 post & change…Maybe people think your a stalker or a child predator who just likes to watch & fantasize…My point??

You cant judge somebody just because the number of posts he has & you are not in a position to call other people names for simply enjoying the site & posting often. Having said that, I do agree with you that there are alot of kids on here that act stupid as their are adults, but only by acting stupid. Not because they have a high post count…Whats out of control is the chat…When a person that rode the short yellow bus & were not even born in 81 start’s cursing & telling Dick Warlock just yesterday “i wouldn’t give you $20 for your signature” & makes him leave due to pointless foul language …Well that calls for a bit of attention & is quite irritating.
While im in the typing mood this sunshiny morning i wish people would not quote a post that has more than 2 pictures only to say .“NICE SHOT”…Just quote his name & give your kudo. Nobody wants to see 7 stretched pics of a stretched mask while wearing a stretched muscle shirt quoted 6 times including the person quoting a member that quoted his own pics…Nobody…Example

I post a pic…Somebody quotes my pics & says “horrible”…Then i quote his post that includes the pics of me he quoted only to say “thanks”…

start’s cursing & telling Dick Warlock just yesterday “i wouldn’t give you $20 for your signature” & makes him leave…Well that calls for a bit of attention & is quite irritating.

wow the man comes on here to give us enjoyment and something to look forward to and the response he gets is “i wouldn’t give you $20 for your signature” thats really ignorant

Whoa. . well that is JUST BEING DISRESPECTFUL!

RE: the rude comment. . i would flag it. . click on the ----> !

then leave a reply to Dick that 99/9999999% of has been praising the hell out of him and THINKS HE IS bad ass!!

i LIKE seeing new members. . … its what keeps this hobby alive!

now i am seeing real veterans disappear. . . this is sad. . . Am i veteran? I dont think so but i feel my opinions are as valid as any one elses. . nor does the opinons of a newer member should matter any less. .

of course i bow in humility to the dudes that have gained so much knowledge and were around to witness great things happen (nm78, the discovery of the 3 part appliance on the h5 etc)

just a thought. . .

new or old. . if a post is disrespectful. . report their a#$%!

I just became a member this December
Before I did I didnt know anything about this site matter a fact I didnt know it existed…
I would watch videos on youtube of Myers Masks and would always see on some videos saying visit
michael-myers.net but never paid attention to it…

until 1 day I did
and shit was i :open_mouth: shocked
until then this site has become my new myspace lol
im here 24/7 not posting posts but mostly reading what other people write and talk about

Point is! not all of the new members are low lifes that like to be the center of attention
theres some like myself who are honest and are here because they are fans of that FUCKER MYERS!

so you shouldnt be mad because some of us “the new guys”
dont know much about mask makers etc and ask questions/opinions :drinkers:

remember, we were all noobs at one point in time. They get excited and go post crazy at first, yes thats true. but I can name alot of great dudes here who started off just the same, and im sure others can to. Dont let it bother ya, just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Yes Amaen to that bro :sunglasses: …I would also like to add something because in a way I think that one of the comments above could have been towards me…It is completely normal for others to reply to their own threads…“Thats why you make them”…If I post pics and someone leaves a great comment I am going to thank that person…I dont like to leave people hanging because to me thats rude if you thank one person and not the next…It happens to me all the time and I consider it a bit rude…I will leave a great comment in someones thread and the person will thank everyone but me…I dont get upset though, I give credit where its due regardless of what anyone else may think…It our of respect not to bump a thread or my own thread…Later guys

Who did this?

I’m wondering the same thing… Please inform us who did this.

first off steve ‘duel’ summed it all up perfectly.
afew other points from other members i agree with is, when starting a thread and replying to each individual post. unless someone asks a specific question i feel its best to wait afew hours before replying a thanks to the members that posted.
i agree with Paul 50 one 50, ive seen threads where 3 people in a row will quote the authors entire post with every pic. thats alot of wasted space, we already seen the pics at the top of the page, no need to quote and repost all the pics over and over.
and Curtis your right on bro, dont dare stop being respectful and an active member because someone thinks your post count is too high! you hit the nail on the head, i reply to ALOT of threads just telling people congrats on your score or nice mask. its about being respectful and being a friendly active board member. i know for myself, when i get a new mask i have obviously bought it for my personal enjoyment, but there isnt really anyone in my hometown i can show to share my excitment with. thats why we post our new scores here were there are many people that will appreciate such a nice mask and they will compliment and congratulate you on obtaining such a wonderful mask. there isnt no way i would get that responce from any of my family or friends, they are like, “what, another mask?”. so yeah if someone posts a mask or costume shots that i even half way like im going to tell them nice mask or nice pics or whatever it is, im going to let them know that their new score was shared and appreciated by someone other than themselfs. and as far as post count, hell i might have 3000 by this time next year :stuck_out_tongue:

I dont think the post count is a problem. The only thing that might help like someone else said is waiting for 4 or 5 comments instead of thanking each comment that was made about your mask pics. This is a public forum where you have the right to reply to what you want as long as you follow the rules outlined by mm.net.Alot of people make post I do not care for but I skip right over it.I think this forum is a place for new members as well as vets to come enjoy the mask collecting hobby. These young noobs as people call them are the future of mask making. Our future Mabry may be one of these new members.I always try to help anyone who needs it and always will. You guys who love this site and reply to people pics and posts are a very large part of the community.Post on brother…,

I’m only posting this to get one more number added to my post count…
