TOTS 2018 inconsistencies

So, like alot of you Im wanting to own an H40.

Ive noticed the finishes are very inconsistent on these masks with some being good, and some being not so good. My issue is I live in rural Alabama and the nearest Spirit Halloween store requires me to set aside my entire day to go there. As far as I know thats the only way I can know for certain what the mask Im buying will look like, unless I bought from someone on eBay and spend 3-4x original cost due to high demand.

My question to those who ordered through TOTS, what were your general thoughts on YOUR finish? Were you disappointed? Would you have rather gone to a store to see it before buying? Or would you recommend going ahead and ordering and hoping for the best?

Honestly going to a store is your best bet. The finish on my preorder was horrid but one I found at Spirit was decent. The sculpt is amazing regardless and if you strive for perfection you’ll get it overhauled anyway. I’d just go and make sure they have them in Stock beforehand, pick which you like best

Not that Im not dedicated to this hobby, but man. Working 6 days a week, and having to drive 200 miles one way just to hope a mask looks good…I just dont know.

200 miles is ridiculous. Call them and see how many copies they have and if they’d hold them for you. If you really want the mask, they will be restocked and readily available early 2019. People on eBay are just gouging the prices of these things so if you really want it now the safer bet is to go to a store that has one. Maybe you can call them up and see if they will ship it to your house directly due to the driving distance

I think all the spirit stores are now closed but if you go online they have a chat that pops up at the top and the item number for the h40 mask is 01391424. They can tell you where “local to you” has it in stock

200 miles is just nuts. Let’s not forget these are mass produced $60 masks. I’m satisfied with mine…bought 2…the paint jobs were very different but I’m happy overall. Glad I could add to my collection. In the end you do what yo have to–beats being on a 3 year waiting list for a mask

If you are 200 miles away one way then you are going to be spending quite a bit on gas. My advice would be to wait until the new batch or buy one on Ebay or in classifieds. By the time you count your gas and time paying 3-4x more than retail wouldn’t be much different anyway. Whether you see it in person or not you’ll likely want the mask redid to shine best.
