Hey guys. I’m never one to disturb the peace or stir the pot, and I usually like to keep quiet about things, but I have to let you all know that I just got a copyright warning from Trancas regarding one of my videos on youtube. It was a simple video showcasing some of my Myers’ masks, but like an idiot, I used the music from Halloween II and Halloween 6. (the video was over 18 months old!!!) I can totally understand why they wanted it taken down, but youtube took it down immediately, with a huge copyright infringement claim smacked on it. There was never a “real” reason as to why it was removed, except it said it was in violation of copyrighted material, which I assume is the music. I’ve now “audio-swapped” another video I have on there in the hopes it doesn’t get pulled as well. They have yet to do anything about my feature length fan film I made 15 years ago, that also includes Halloween-themed music, however, I composed it all myself.
Just a heads up to everyone here. I’d like to keep our community safe and under the radar from anyone who wishes to take it away. It’s not cool, and we want to keep Michael and the spirit of Halloween to ourselves, the FANS.
You Tube is the problem, not you. A lot of artists sue the hell out of You Tube because it’s a medium that is not regulated and they can’t make money off of it…yet. TV and Radio pays broadcast fees which in terms goes to royalties, You Tube does not pay for anything. It’s all about the mighty dollar and Trancas was their cut.
its kind of understandable wehn its a bands song or something but it seems kind of effed when they’re banning music from a film from 30 years ago. its not like someone is going to search for a myers mask video to put the music on to chill to instead of buying a soundtrack.
Good god with all the crazy things on you tube and they pull this. That guy at trancas needs to get a life.I know its his business but does he truly not want any fans. What an idiot…
This happened to me this past November. I couldn’t even get my Halloween 2009 video uploaded without the audio being disabled. HOWEVER, there IS a way around it. It may not be too important for you, but if you’re interested, here is how to fix it…follow the instructions in this link, and it should work. It worked for me! My video has been up since I did this, and without ads being pasted onto it as some other record labels have been doing to videos.
Thanks. I might try that again in the future, if I need to.
Just be warned everyone, if you post vids of your masks, using any of the Halloween music, you might get it pulled from youtube.
Yet, it amazes me how whole films can be up there, even movies that aren’t on video yet, and still don’t get any attention. Meh.
Trancas must be on the same pills as the UFC’s Dana White. They all have the mentality to stop the ‘little people’… when it’s a much bigger problem that exists.
It’s like cops pulling someone over for flicking a cigarette butt out the window, while passing by a bank robbery.
