about indie made Myers’ masks?.. for me it’s the perfect shaped hairline.
I see a lot of great Myers masks, but they usually all have a nice straight edged hairline at both sides, and across the front of the forehead. For some reason this just really bugs me lol.
I just realized that the thread wasn’t hear specifically at H1 masks, so hell, here’s a list
4: almost everything, yet to see a “perfect replica”
5: too prominent of an appliance line, wrong hairline/hair color, eyecuts
6: nothing, most 6s are perfect now a days anyway with nearly everything being Movie Mold
H20: incorrect paint scheme/hair (Ben nails these both)
H8: same as H20, but once again Ben is masterful at these skills.
I left them out because that’s such a slippery slope haha. With almost all RZ masks using that ani head sculpted by Wayne Toth they get preeetttyyyy accurate. The tiny things I’d nitpick are nose shape, no flashing on the eyes, incorrect hairline, shape of mask, and location of ears. But without looking too deep at the mask most of them legit look production made
Yep. I wish we had this same accuracy for the other films honestly. The Damned88 is pretty spot on for H4 and H1 has the Shat and 98proto but nothing as screen-used looking as the RZ variations
I agree to the fullest extent. being middle class, unemployed and barely earning money from allowance really puts a damper on getting those sweet $450 masks. The wait for them is also excruciating and painful
The true accurate Kirk size is often neglected in favor of fitting the collector. The original was a small mask which why it even looked the way it did in the movies.
All the different “sculpts” that these indie guys have. Like barely a noticeable difference from mask to mask. I mean, NAG has like 12 different sculpts you can buy…really? I find it funny…
Not really a problem with the masks themselves, but the way some people ship them. They crumple em up and crease them and it’s such a pain in the ass to blowdry em out.
Like when ToTs sends their masks to you unstuffed.
That happened to my 2018 I just got. The back got pushed inwards which I had to pop it out, that kinda messed up the hair but it’s an easy fix
Exactly! And it’s such a hit or miss when they do this. Sometimes, they’re fine, other times they’re all creased. I got my elrod unstuffed and crumpled up but as soon as I pulled it out of the box and unfolded it, it popped right back into shape without any creases. But then I’ve seen their H40s full of creases because of the same thing!
H1- The paint color is never quite to my liking, and often masks are too dirty or too gray looking to me. I know TLW has mentioned both fish belly white and appliance white as the type used, and currently spray paint used a different chemical composition than it has in the past, so it’d be tough to replicate either unless someone can get a hold of some vintage spray paint and compare colors and try to get a modern pax paint replication.
