What if Warlock had played Michael in H1

I have seen in numerous interviews that Dick Warlock would have been the best possible choice to play Michael in Halloween 1 as well as Halloween 2. Why is this and for a Halloween fan how would it have changed the movie for you and in what aspects if he indeed was myers in the first halloween film? I apologize in advance if this has been posted before. Thoughts…

Then the search for the perfect H1 Mask would be over.

While I thought Warlock was a good Myers in H2, Im glad Nick Castle played him in the original. He destroys everyone else who ever put on the mask. Easily.

I"ve wondered to myself, what if Castle had played Myers in H2? What would that have been like?

I wouldn’t have minded at all since Dick is my favorite Myers, even over Nick. Yes, Nick is the shape but I still slightly love the slow, robotic movements a little more.

I LOVE BOTH CASTLE AND WARLOCK, BOTH OF THEM OBVIOUSLY ARE THE BEST MICHAEL MYERS TO PUT ON THE MASK. CASTLE FOR ME GIVES MICHAEL THE ERIENESS AND UNKNOWN SENSE. DICK GIVES MORE OF THE NOT HUMAN ROBOTIC KIND OF MICHAEL WHICH IS COOL AS WELL, BUT IN THE END NICK CASTLE IS MICHAEL MYERS, THE SHAPE.

I think it was meant to be to have Nick play The Shape in H1, he just fits the role for that movie. I would love it either way even if Warlock played the role in H1.

I think the way people see Nick as the original shape and thats it: he IS Michael and his movements are MICHAELS that was probably how it would have been with any other person because we hadn’t seen it any other way and that actor played the original Michael…either way I wouldnt have minded as I love them both

Personally I’m glad Nick did H1 and Dick H2 for the simple reason that if it had not happened this way then the mask wouldn’t have given off the two classic looks it did a a result.

As far as acting wise, these two performances of Michael are, were and forever will be not only the best but the mark by which all other portrayals will be judged. Loved both because each actor had their own special way they portrayed The Shape and these little special things they added (like Nick’s head tilt and Dick’s robotic walk) are trademarks to the character now.

I will give props to the people wearing the mask; both Nick and Dick had little nuances that both make their portrails their own. However, I feel a lot of what we see on camera, credit should go to Dean Cundey. The Cinematographer/Director of Photography is responsible for achieving artistic and technical decisions related to the image. Basically, in layman’s terms…their responsibility to make the scenes/actors look “Cool, Bitch’n, Bad Ass and WoW!” on film; and Dean achieved that in leaps and bounds over any of the other ‘Halloween’ sequels without him.

The thing is in the original Halloween Nick Castle didn’t do every scene. In fact the more I learn about the film…and I thought I knew everything…the more I realise that alot of scenes I like aren’t even Nick. Like the closet scene. And even several more. But with Dick Warlock you know that every time Michael is on the screen it is him and none other. Don’t get me wrong I love Castle as the Shape…but for me it’s Warlock all the way.

Nick Castle as stated earlier, IS the Shape.

DIck Warlock did a good job too. Hes not my favorite out of the series though. Next in line after Nick is Chris Durand IMO

Chris Durand over Dick Warlock?? :open_mouth: Well that’s why they are called opinions and everyone is entitled to them. Good points regarding the fact that many people wore the mask in H1. The closet scene in particular not being Castle. Dick Warlock was moving slow through the whole movie, it kind of became what The Shape was known for. If you think about it MM didn’t move especially slow in H1, jogging down the stairs after stabbing laurie, even when he chased her across the street I wouldn’t say he was running but he was certainly walking at an above normal pace. Dick plodded through almost every scene and that is what made it scary to me, because when they were in the hospital basement and laurie was injured he could have easily picked up the pace and caught her. They decided it would be more suspenseful to have him walk slow all the way to the elevator where she almost gets caught.

Honestly guys Castle and Warlock are the best michael myers ever, but i think and this is just my oppinion, that nick castle is still the best michael myers. I cannot see warlock playing in h1…its a different movie. I like the way the mask looks better when castle wears is, the warlock look is unique but its my second choice. This is all oppinion. I love warlock and castle both, giving castle the edge for the better image of michael myers and warlock the edge for the better acting such as his robotic movements.

later guys

I think I always liked Warlock better than Castle, but both serve a different look in both films which I enjoy.

Yeah.

I deff like Warlock better than Castle, but at the same time I think they both played the part great, They each added their own way of playing the character, which Ultimately gave us the Michael we know today. If one of them would have played in both movies my guess is, parts 1 & 2 would have turned out completely different.

It wouldn’t have made any difference.

Nick Castle was given no motive, “don’t act, just walk, do nothing, just walk”, Carpenter has said. The reason why Michael Myers was so scary in the original film wasn’t thanks to some magical talent that Castle possessed but because we didn’t see so much of Michael Myers, plus Carpenter’s direction.
