What mask latex today is closest to original Kirk?

He’s right you now It was to cut costs they could cast a mask thinner and it could still holds its shape. the downside is too much claytex and the
the mask was stiff.

Don post jr told a story about going to the travellers co mask company and they were cutting their mask latex with sand don told the story
that when he tried on one of the masks it was rough like sandpaper it was very scratchy and uncomfortable to wear

Really good question. I wonder if anyone knows, I did hear that don post studios use to do something to their latex. I think they watered it down a lot more then usual. Don’t quote me on that.

They used Claytex. It was a mixture of Clay and Latex as the name suggests lol. Was done to cut costs and resulted in a fairly durable stretchy material but one that wasn’t durable for very long depending on the care given to the mask over the years.

This has been debunked. The clay additive did the exact opposite. This is a direct quote from my email correspondence with Cathy Tharp:

The masks that feel the closest to the Don Post 75 Kirk’s in texture, weight and thickness, are Justin’s NMM78 1 and 4 stamps and early run Psychos.
