You could buy a CS and get it repainted and rehaired to obtain that quality…Lets not forget that even though they were made from the movie mold (Cant much better than that) they were mass produced…You are almost never going to see a mass produced mask have a better quality than an Indy artist…It just doesnt work that way…Not in all cases but most…Then you really cant beat the 15 made for the movie IMO…I just in no way have seen any H8 mask more accurate than the film 15…The 2 CS mask I had looked great…One I was pleased with and the other not so much but one was the deluxe…This is why when I finally track one down a CSD again(cant afford one of the 15) I will get it repainted and rehaired so it has that quality from an Indy artist…I just dont think IMO that any other mask is more accuarte than the CSH8…I as well see the narrow look but I dont think they are bad mask by any means…They are great mask just not as accurate to a CS IMO, thats all…
Its like I said in the begining of this thread…You will hear a half dozen opinions on this and its better to just look at pics and form your own opinion…I ask what people think too sometimes though because I want to see how close my opinion is with the masses LoL…Its all good as they are only opinions…No need for anyone to get upset…We all see things differently…I dont think its a ridiculous question bud…Its nice to get the opinions of others before you make your mind up…These threads only get bad when people get a tude for a different view…IMO the CSD is the most accuarte mask out there for H8…Its just my opinion and never did I or do I imply that my opinions are the way to go …
So its all in how you see it bud…Check out the pics posted, the gallery, and the good opinions that you have here and go buy your mask my man…Later guys
So, the resurrected is cast from a cs h8? I thought Gary didn’t recast? Now, I am not trying to start any type argument. I just want clarification on this. Casting off of another mask is considered recasting, right?
hey guys…does everyone just ignore me when I post in a thread??
If you were to go back to my post on the first page…I have every H8 MASK THAT HAS BEEN MADE (my resurrected proto is missing, and I do not have the CS Collectors Edition) …but you can see exactly everything that is being debated
the FIRST MASK I SHOWED IS THE “1 of 15” MADE FOR FILM NOT USED (unchallengeable on this one, it’s was made to be on screen if it had to!!)…THE COLOR IS MORE GREY-BROWN…the Resurrected cannot be mistaken for this mask, it’s much more cartoony…and in no way am I criticizing the Resurrected or Gary!! I have one, I love it, Garys awesome, but it’s not accurate, it “resembles” (and the neck is cut too short, look at the “1 of 15”…see the neck?)…Gary made an ORIGINAL SCULPT on this one and it’s really cool…but seriously guys, can you honestly say it looks like the “1 of 15”??
And Crofader was dead-on, completely correct…the details of the Resurrected are from the finishing, Gary is a master at shading in such a way that it creates an illusion, that pretty damn cool! but the mask itself doesn’t have the features, it’s shading…
your preference of any mask is all that matters, but if you’re going to get into a debate about facts and not opinions, you gotta agree with the facts…if you are looking for screen accuracy, the CS Deluxe is the best mask available to fill this role. Look at it, in my post, compared to the “1 of 15” …the resemblance is unmistakable, but it is mass produced, the details aren’t all there…it’s larger and “fatter”…and the paint, tho I like mine as is, tho pretty damn nice, it’s not totally accurate…it tends to be MUCH MUCH to white…but even saying that, they are still darker then the Resurrected…
Ok…I have new set of pics I took recently, they are better then the ones I used in my post on page 1, so let me try and get them up and in here so everyone can just see them and there is no more debates and arguments over this because the film accuracy of a “almost screen-used” is not debatable…
Yes according to Gary the Ressurected came from one of the originals. But again. They both look good. It’s just a matter of taste. I do know the Movie mask was not painted brown, and the CS deluxe masks are. Plus the CS masks are REALLY big. This whole debate has been completely BEAT TOO EVER LOVING DEATH
Ok…here’s some more pics of some of the masks…look particularly at the “Display Case - Side-by-side” pic…you can see the loss of detail and stuff I talked about between the “1 of 15” and the Deluxe (this one is a PROTOTYPE tho, it’s got a film accurate paint and human hair, so you can’t compare that)…sorry the images are so damn big, but I did not want to put in the time to re-size them all :butthead: LOL
CS SPECIAL EDITION “1 of 15” [lets just call it SCREENUSED to make life easy here] is on LEFT
CS DELUXE EDITION PROTOTYPE (film accurate paint, human hair) is on RIGHT
here is the H30 RESURRECTION “CREPE HAIR” PROTOTYPE
this isn’t a great pic as I have just noticed (next one either)…but it’s what were gonna use LOL
back to the CS SPECIAL EDITION “1 of 15” “SCREENUSED”
same crappy pic thing goin on here…
CS DELUXE EDITION PROTOTYPE (film accurate paint, human hair)
CS DELUXE EDITION (regular mass produced mask)
the SSN BRAD LOREE SIGNATURE EDITION #02 [I heard this was supposedly a recast/claypress of the “1 of 15”, but there’s no way…I was told by a reliable, informative source that it is in fact an original sculpt using the “1 of 15” for reference]
and to round it off with the newest & latest & totally irrelevant to what’s being discussed now, but it still fits under thread topic
NIL’S MR. BLISTER #2
I left off the CS Economy mask cause, well, it’s god awful LOL
and I no longer have a Ghastly Productions H8 and need to get one again, and I need the CS Collectors Edition ## of 1000…
can we all circle around the tree now and sing like the Who’s of Whoville???
Ron man, I don’t want to get something started here and I’m not attacking you…but how do you say the movie mask is as bright white as the Resurrection? The “1 of 15” mask IS THE MOVIE MASK…lighting can change appearance of color (watch Jason X…his mask never reveals it’s true color, it’s always got tints of red, blue, and changes all the time because of lighting)…BUT YOU CAN SEE THE MOVIE MASK RIGHT THERE, IN MY POST…IT’S NOT WHITE…
Exactly James!!! The movie masks were not white, it was the lighting that made them look white. Here are some shots of some of the movie masks I’ve owned/own and the Collectors Edtition.
Okay, if you guys say so. I am by no means an H8 expert. I just wanted one nice mask to represent the film, and I believe I have a good one. Good luck with your screen used stuff. They do look cool. Hell I wouldn’t mind having one myself. Oh I never said that the masks were as white as a Resurrection, I just said they do not look brown in the movie. But you are right about lighting changing the appearance drastically. Like I said I’m all good. Actually I like the CS and the H30, but if I were to get a CS it would not be a deluxe. I have had 2 and wasn’t happy with the detail. I do not however think the H30 looks like a cartoon. I respect Gary, and I would not make fun of his work as such. But that’s just me…
Yeah its definately a hit or miss with a deluxe…They were mass produced so its only natural…The only other better versions are the collectors edition or the obvious 15 film mask…Both are limited and very rare especially the 15…Expensive and you have to get someone to come off of one 1st …I still say your better off going for deluxe than a regular version…There are plenty of bad ass deluxe versions out there…The detail is sharper in them and even though they were both mass produced the deluxe is a better quality…As they stated above certain copys really stick out You just have to find them…Lighting will always play a role on a mask…Especially a myers mask LoL…But in the end it still on what we see individually…You have to go for what you see to be happy…Later guys
