I like this question! H1 and H2 are a must IMO. I have always been a fan of H20 and like the fact that Myers is still looking for Laurie. H1, H2 and H20 for me!
H1,H2, H4,H20 (I know H4 is kind of cheating but since in H20 we know that Laurie faked her death it still kind of works together).
H1 H2 and H20! H20 was the first one i saw in theaters at 8 so theirs lots of of good times there…
H1 & H2 for me.
I think h1,h2 & h20 was the best timeline. Resurrection could have been included I just wish they wouldn’t have explained how it was not Michael Myers who got his head chopped off they could have just left it to the audience imagination if they didn’t explain how he survived EVERYTHING else in the previous movies.
I hated in H6 that they made it seem like hes driven by the Thorn sh*t.
it took away from Michaels overall character it was better when we thought he was driven by inner evil.
H20 was a very good ending to the H1 H2 stories. It was rather ambitious. It made sense Laurie Strode would have nightmares,need pills etc It was traumatic. It was fun,it had some good scares as well- plus a great ending. Resurrection really undermined the whole thing.
For me its H1 and then H2,after that its just one big mess for me personally.
I would pick H20 to make a Myers trilogy,but its the lack of burns which gets me on that and the fact that they couldnt make a final decision on a mask.
H4-H6 i watch them as a separate universe,Yes they got the burns.But shoulder padded beer gut Michael just doesn’t do it for me.sorry
Plus again the changing masks etc etc
In a perfect world my actual Myers story would be H1/H2/H4 & H20,But alas it isnt perfect so its H1/H2 and i throw in H3. 
PS… As for Resurrection…anyone up for a DVD/Blu ray burning? in my eyes that never happened and was made as a joke.

Hate to bring up an old topic but this is something I’ve been thinking about recently. As far as films go, just H1 for me I can give a little leeway for H2, since I do like it but I’m not a fan of the choices made to the story and all.
However if we are including the EXPANDED info from comics and such, then it’s the H1/H2/H20/H8 timeline for sure. I’m sure some of you know this, but the comics that ran in the mid to late 2000s expanded on events in the H20 timeline.
I HIGHLY suggest the Halloween: Nightdance comic, which is set a year before the opening of Resurrection. I wont give away much, but it’s haunting.

They make Myers feel more like a real serial killer that just kept on haunting the mid-west for 20 years or so. It’s chilling. Plus there’s this cool site that offers up newspaper articles about the events of H1/H2 and morgue reports. It’s pretty detailed and highly fun to read up on! Right under the “Features” tab!
