Who Is An H1 Purist?

How many are an H1 purist to the extent that they refuse to look past the 1978 original ? After seeing the sequels I myself just view the original as the one and only.

The more sequels that are released the more I realize how much of a classic the original film is, and that the story works best as a stand alone film.

I enjoy H2 and H18, but I would skip most of the others. They’re not bad, and they’ll always be classics, but the original will always be the best.

Whats your take on the 2018 direct sequel? I think it has it’s moments but there is just no reason why Myers would continue to assault Strode with no reason.

Well he isnt attacking laurie until he is brought to her by sartain, so she isnt even his goal.

She’s “The one that Got Away”, and the reason he’s locked up…I think that’s plenty reason for a psychopath to fixate on her.

While I enjoy the other films in the franchise to varying degrees, H1 is pretty much the only essential Halloween movie IMO. It’s pretty much perfect. My entire collection revolves around H1.

My ideal timeline is just H1. I view the sequels, including the sequels building on other sequels, as alternate timelines. I feel that lets me enjoy them more too, as I love the new one, H2, and H4.

Unpopular opinion here but I really am not the biggest fan of HII or Dick Warlock’s portrayal of the Shape.
To me H1 and H40 are my ideal Halloween timeline, pretty much how John Carpenter views it nowadays. But I’m really curious how they will do a sequel. Because it’s unnecessary to keep the plot going on and on.

I’m an H1 purist. But I also really like the mask’s look in H2 as well. As for the rest of them. I could actually care less.

If we remove the ‘goggles’ off the fact its a direct sequel with care shown to the mask with easter eggs of the movies and whatnot, you realize the movie makes no sense, is poorly edited and with tons of plot holes.

H2018 just shows me what an anomaly H1 1978 was, and why it wasn’t replicated. H2 is decent enough that I accept it as canon and just end it there in my mind.

It could end after H1. But H2 works for me, even though he is like a different Myers compared to H1. H40 isn’t bad but certainly doesn’t replace H2 for me. The rest I can take or leave. They are fun to watch, except robs. I feel dirty and scuzzy watching those

1 and 2 will never be touched

Agreed

I’m with you here on your opinion. I feel the same way. I never really cared for H2. It was basically a lot of just running around the streets and curtis never really had that much to do until the end. And the fact it is when we learn she is Myers sister never really cut it with me. H40 seems more like a better sequel but it has it’s problems. I liked H4 mainly the opening credits and I did like the Myers for some reason here to. But I could do without sequels and just watch H1 as it is and leave it to end there

I don’t think he has any idea who she is. Sartain brings him to her house, but even then she’s just someone else to kill. I think there’s finally some recognition when he pins her against the wall by the throat in the upstairs room and does the head tilt.

I was pretty disappointed. It had a few moments but it was overall a pretty big let down. The only sequel I really enjoy is Halloween II and even that wasn’t very good. Halloween II did a better job w/ atmosphere. It felt like a Halloween movie. This new film seemed to get that wrong right from the get go. They should have kept the majority of the film in the neighborhood on Halloween night. I didn’t care for Laurie’s bunker either. It seemed out of place and didn’t capture the feel I was hoping for.

I would say H1 is the only one that is a really good film. Some of the others are fun to watch. I agree with most here that the original sequel comes closest to replicating the magic. I love the synthy score of that one! And the mask still looks good and tension in places is pretty high like at the end when he chases Laurie. That neighborhood scene in the beginning is hard to beat too. Everyone seems to like that long tracking scene in the new one where Michael goes house to house killing people. That scene would have worked better for me minus carpenters score. It’s a great score but I just didn’t think that was the right musical choice for that scene. But yeah, h40 is great in spots but not so great in others. It’s more of a celebration of the franchise instead of it’s own thing with all of the call backs and what not.Halloween 4 is a hella fun ride but after 4 it’s pretty downhill. Halloween 1 was expertly crafted but also kind of a happy accident. It’s lightning caught in a bottle that may never be replicated successfully again

Don’t wanna be that guy but, it’s “I couldn’t care less” If you could care less then that would mean that you actually do care a bit.
If you couldn’t care less then that would mean that you care so little that you couldn’t care any less.

H1 is by far my favorite in the series. I also like H2, H3, and H4. I can sit through H5, as bad as it is, but only because of nostalgia. The rest of them, I couldn’t care less about.
