who makes the best DPS H3 replica set?

i am specifying recasts of the original set as the original set IS the best!

So folks. . . who has the best set. . I am talking about over all shape, detail (is it ballooned and distorted, loss of detail etc) and finnishing (paint accuracy etc)

cgp
crypt co (apparentlly all their cgp molds are different as masks are smaller)
ssn (2-3 runs)

i am just curious to see what those who have far more discecting eyes than I and their thoughts on the much more economical alternatives to the wonderful original set. .

(warning – side rant/thinking out loud:
god i seriously hope dps re-release this set. . i know i would purchase not one but several. . how cool would it be to recreate the gambridge point of purchase mask display :open_mouth:  :smiling_imp:  )

Best recast?? LOL. Last I heard, the kind and gentle folks down in Alabama make nice recasts of all sorts of stuff hehehehehehehe.

Hey Alex,
Isn’t RECAST a kind of harsh word to use so loosely around here? lol

Oh yes. … I do believe i know who you are talking about. . . man. . such talent and eye for detail AND integrity. … incredible!

but yes, recasts. . .thats what all non-DPS sets are. . .the only h3’s I currently have are the dps h3 brown skull, weird pink hooded witch, and original sculpt concept mask rotting pumpkin (DWN)

when i say “good” i dont mean the moral imperitive. . . i mean “good” as in the product hat best serves its purpose. . the least “warped and distorted” of all the h3 sets. . .

@ Tony
haha I guess i could use other phrasing but I dont think its denied by any of the makers. . I guess I naturally assumed that under board mores that the mask is in the same catagory as the kirk. . . both dps masks that are out of production for nearly 30 years. . . and it doesnt seemed to be generally frowned upon 'round here. . but I suppose i could say. . .who has the best “NON-DPS” set. .

lol

I’d have to say CGP. Their shape and size are about the best you’ll get unless you have originals. Most other makers either have awful shape, awful paint, or both.

If you can, grab a CGP set

There is something about the CGP set. . i even have to admit that I like the paint up as well

I second that, I have the SSN set and I love it.

I like the SSN & CGP Pumpkins about the same, favor the SSN Skull but prefer the CGP Witch, so I guess it’s a hybrid set that best suits me until I can get all originals (Chad, Billy…you hear me knocking? )

Here is my CGP set:

I like crypt co’s set they have, I really like the colors on them. Nice and vibrant.

I like the original Version SSN masks, they have great detail, and the Sinister Studio masks look really great too. The TLW series masks are too small, I do not like the CGP sets, I bought a CGP trio and sold it as soon as I got it.

SSN V1

Do you have any pics of them?

Not anymore that was about a year ago but they looked like any other CGP set. I spent months putting together my V1 SSN set. They just look more detailed to me than the other sets. Sinister Studio makes a sweet trio though. I have a pumpkin I am gonna get the skull and witch soon. It’s just my opinion, I’m sure the CGP’s and TLW’s are okay for some people.
SINISTER STUDIO PUMPKIN

I guess you mean the SSN TLW set looking like the CGP set Benny because the version 1 sets does not look the same at all to me.

Why would Sean make the TLW set smaller? They should be the same size and have the same detail as the first set; Sean has the eye for detail. Have you actually asked Sean about this?

I just heard from several people that they were smaller than the first version, just going by what they said. I was also told they are from completely different molds. The detail is supposed to be as good as the first version, but smaller…Just what I heard from folks.

Let’s see if Sean will chime in with the facts then.

That would be cool, I’d like to know for sure. That’s the only reason I have not purchased a set. Actually I think it was Scott at QOTS who was one of the ones that told me they were kind of small. Scott just sent me an email and said that Darren said the TLW’s are not as big as the original ones but there’s not a huge difference
