ive always been fine with Michael driving in the original because its the original and it worked.
but for RZ’s Michael to not drive but just walk to where he is going is one example of how robs Michael is more realistic than carpenters.
obviously at the age he was committed he never learned how nor would be able to drive after escaping, super natural or not. especially to make it 150 miles.
“well he was doing very well lastnight! maybe someone around here gave him lessons!”
I am very sure that Rob simply felt it made no sense for michael to suddenly know how to drive. . .
now PERSONALLY. . . Ive always seen myers as some kind of savant . . he simply OBSERVED others driving and as such taught him self how to drive. . .
but that is my interpretation. . i prefer to see myers as some kind of gifted freak who uses his powers of observation to become an effective killing, stalking machine. .
I must quickly clarify that I am a fan of BOTH Carpenters Myers (duh) as WELL as Zombies Myers. . . im stating personal preference. . . id prefer to see more of that cunning that Carpenters myers had in zombies. … i dont think think it would conflict at all with Zombies vision for Myers. . . i may be the forum goofball but me and my (soon to be ex) are social workers. . . well, i got out of that racket a while back and got into management but there are PLENTY of real world instances where clients have gotten behind the wheel and done REALLY well for never having ANY KIND OF FORMAL LESSONS or experience. . .
So that being said, I think it would still make sense in Rob’s universe. .
The first time I stepped behind the wheel. I managed to wreck my dads camero. It was a stick and I took it out late at night without letting him know about it . I hit a telephone pole and I blew the front tire on the rightside. I drove it back home in first gear and parked it. I paid big time for that. It’s only second nature when it’s an automatic. Michael not driving was more real. If Rob decided to make him drive. I would hope that we would see him wrecking or being real poor about it. Not only that he wouldn’t be very good at following road signs. A cop would have probably pulled him over for ignoring those signs.
I like the original how it is. But Robs take on Michael and how he walks makes more sense to me. I mean I didn’t know how to drive a car when i first got into it. But if it was a standard Michael would have been screwed definitely. I just like how he walks everywhere.
The problem I had with him not driving in H2 was he seemed to get around really fast, to me it seemed like the town was really spread out. He just made place to place to fast im my opinion.
But that’s every Halloween film. No matter how fast the victim runs, Michael always catches up. For example, just recently I was watching H20. Towards the end, when Laurie’s son, John, and his girlfriend are running through the trees and stop for only a second, Michael suddenly jumps right behind them. He does this even though he was just walking far behind.
Thats true…But if Zombie was going to realism in his movies it should take Michael a little while longer to get around. To me it seemed like the town was really rural as spread out. But who knows…Its just a movie Maybe I’m looking into it to deep
